Update for Anita!

This week was a very busy week for Anita. She started on Monday with another CT and Doppler ultrasound of her legs. The ultrasound showed no blood clots in the legs and the original blood clot in the iliac vein was significantly improved since taking Eliquis. She met with her Doctor on Thursday and she told her that her cancer is responding excellently to the chemo. She said it is quite remarkable. She stated that she was ready to proceed with surgery on Monday but was consulting with the 2nd surgery that would be involved in the surgery. Anita and Mike met with the 2nd surgeon and he stated that he didn’t feel like he had her records long enough to give her the due diligence she needed. He said the location of the tumors were completely operable but would like for her to have an MRI which would show more details so he could provide a better road map of everything prior to surgery. So at this point, Monday’s surgery will be placed
In a holding pattern. Due to the holidays, if an MRI can’t be performed within the next week, her doctor would like for her to complete 2 more rounds of chemo while everything can be completed versus sitting idle. She did not want Anita to not have chemo for an extended amount of time because at this point her results have been so positive.
We are waiting on word regarding the scheduling of the MRI. Following the appointment with the 2nd surgeon yesterday, Anita had a surgical procedure for placement of an IVC filter in her vena cava. This is a precautionary measure that would catch any blood clots from going to the lungs or heart should there be any. At this point, we are waiting for the new plan to be shared by the surgeons.

From Anita!!

I have not shared this on Facebook yet and decided that Thanksgiving week was the week to share it because I am so thankful. My CA-125 blood work is my ovarian tumor marker blood test. My numbers on my CA-125 blood work that was taken 2 days before my first chemo treatment was almost 4,800 with normal being 38 or below. This really puts it into perspective how sick I was upon my diagnosis. Before each chemo, I have blood work and I wanted to share what my numbers have been. After my 1st chemo it dropped to 1768!!! After 2nd chemo treatment it dropped to 768 and after the 3rd chemo treatment it dropped to 97.8. I got my results back from my blood work today and after the 4th chemo it has dropped to 57.9. That is 19.9 points from a normal range. No wonder I feel so much better than I did in August and September! Send some prayers up that Wednesday’s treatment takes it down even lower!!!! I know I have a big surgery ahead of me but I will take anything positive as things move in that direction. I am very grateful that it is responding to chemo. I still have a long ways to go to be healthy again and I am determined to get there! PTL!!!!!!

Prayers are being answered!!! This is amazing news!! 🩷🩷

Anita’s appointment today went well. The scan and blood work all show that the cancer is shrinking. Surgery would have been scheduled had the scan not revealed a blood clot. Her doctor said that blood clots in cancer/chemo patients are very common but surgery can’t happen with a blood clot. She will take Eliquis for one month and have a chemo treatment November 1st and November 22nd repeat scans and they are looking at surgery around Christmas time! Thank you for you prayers. Everything is moving in the right direction!!!

Directly from Anita:
Chemo #3 is in the books and everything went great! Honestly, I am filled with a lot of emotions right now. The doctors and medical team have done their part. I will take the next week and push through the not so good days and do my part. It comes down to the next few weeks completely trusting in God’s plan and the power of prayer! I have had full faith since the morning in the hospital that I met my medical team and they gave me hope. From that moment, I immediately knew that GOD has got me, my medical team has got me, my prayer warriors have got me and I have got this! Continue to pray for me and my family as we wait for my appointment for repeat scans on October 24th and the most important appointment on October 26th, the consultation with my doctors to see if I am a candidate for surgery. The next 2 weeks are gonna be BIG weeks! On August 17th when I received so much information in the ER something in me immediately switched to and I am still there! I will never be able to express my appreciation for my family and friends for being such an encouragement to me over the past several months. We are not finished yet so big time prayers are appreciated!!!! ’sfightclub

Update on Anita!!
Anita has been battling with stomach, muscle and joint cramps from Anita’s last chemo treatment. We are hoping today is the last day of that. She will continue to experience fatigue and low energy levels for the next several days. Her next appointment with her physician is October 6th, followed by pre-chemo blood work on the 9th and the 3rd of 3 treatments on the 11th. Prayers for restful days and rebuilding her energy and strength are greatly appreciated.

The good news about Anita’s chemo appointment is that she is 66% finished with her first round of chemo!!!

The not so good news is she had an adverse reaction to the drug, Paxol. The nurse said she was going to stay for a bit because adverse reactions usually occur on the 1st or 2nd rounds. Anita started having a burning in her throat and the nurse hit a bell. Every nurse in the infusion center came running and the doctor. Her face turned red and she was was very hot and shaky. She also had severe back pains. Her blood pressure jumped to 201/110. They immediately stopped the Paxol and gave more Benadryl and fluids for 30 minutes. They told her that they would be titrating the Paxol which means it is diluted and takes a little longer to administer.
They gave the meds in increments until they worked their way back up to the original dosage. Our prayers are that Anita’s side effects are minimal over the next week!

Tomorrow is Anita’s 2nd round of chemo!! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers throughout the day and she receives her treatment!! We continue to pray for full healing, strength and little to no side effects with this round of treatment!

We are thankful for all of our wonderful friends and family who keep pouring into Anita!!

She continues to take this head on with so much positivity!! She is amazing!

We are thankful to God for keeping her in the palm of his hands! We trust in the lord for total healing!!
