I always encourage my clients to give the younger versions of themselves grace because as I like to say “she got you here”
This quote says it much more beautifully.

This foggy December morning while on my run I embraced the moment. It was mystical, magical and a little spooky and I loved it! I’m working on changing my relationship with winter. I’ve always described myself as a summer girl and I do love the sunshine. In the past I’ve struggled to keep my mood positive during what I called the dreary winter months. I’m now trying to build a positive relationship with winter that puts a focus on connection with nature. I’m allowing nature to guild me and show me how to embrace a slower pace. Having said all that I still do not enjoy snow but, I’m working on seeing it differently. Instead of something that disrupts my schedule and slows me down I’m going to try to see it as nature talking to me and saying be still, listen and rest.

I’ve been a therapist for over 20 years now and one thing I know to be true is that everyone is unique. There is no one size fits all for therapy. I have always loved learning new techniques to try to help people. That’s why I offer many things beyond basic talk therapy. Such as equine assisted psychotherapy, nature based therapy, somatic yoga, mindfulness meditation, and whole body healing. Dm me if you have any questions about any of these options.

Since it’s the holiday season it’s a great time to practice healthy boundaries. If you make your decisions based solely on disappointing others, the result is that you are disappointing yourself.

Horses are prey animals and that means safety is their primary concern. They don’t apologize for keeping themselves safe, or worry that it may not seem polite. Nor do they sacrifice their safety to keep the peace. We can learn so much from horses….
