Four residents from the Scripps Clinic/Scripps Green Hospital Internal Medicine Residency attended the annual American College of Physicians Southern California (ACP SoCal) Region III Annual Conference, where they presented multiple posters on their research and on unique patient cases. Second-year resident Mei Cai, MD, won an award for outstanding poster presentation for her work titled “Exploring the Role of RVUs in Financial Compensation and Effect of Maternity Leave for Women in Gastroenterology.”

A calcium score test, which is a quick and painless CT scan, can help detect early signs of heart disease.

This nurse practioner's week we're proud to highlight Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla nurse practitioner Christina Marcos. Her quick thinking saved the life of a fellow 10K runner who suffered sudden cardiac arrest at the finish line. “It was about staying calm and acting fast,” says Christina Morcos, who administered CPR and used a portable defibrillator. Her actions helped the patient survive and recover under expert care at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
