We at Higher Power Sober Living (HPSL) are committed to breaking the cycle of drug and alcohol addiction. We have come to know that addiction is a devastating and debilitating complex BRAIN disease. According to a study conducted by CasaColumbia, findings revealed that 40 MILLION Americans have the DISEASE of addiction. Only 1 out of every 10 people affected actually receive treatment. This lack of help sought is believed to be because the sufferer continues to hide behind the wall of shame. Addiction still carries the taboo that the sufferer "just lacks will power" or have a "lack of morals", so therefore treatment options and prevention is overlooked. Substance abuse and UNTREATED addiction we know has an insurmountable affect on our society and economy. 85% of Inmates Incarcerated in detention facilities are directly related to substance abuse and addiction. One-third of inpatient hospital stays are directly related to substance abuse and addiction. Tax payers pay .96 cents per every dollar on the consequences of addiction. Only .02 cent per every dollar goes toward prevention and treatment. At HPSL we want to develop and provide resources to these affected individuals and their families that suffer with them. We want to provide clean and sober residential housing that follow a strict zero tolerance policy, while providing, counseling services, group therapy, access to self help resources and spiritual guidance. We want to give the individual/s in recovery keys to success to help them stay in recovery, by teaching life crisis management skills, parenting skills, resources to gain honest employment and a sober living environment.
