Dr. Jay Johannigman, M.D., is a Cincinnati-based trauma and critical care surgeon with over 40 years of experience. His distinguished career spans military and civilian healthcare, with 18 years of deployment to combat theaters in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he honed expertise in trauma care that he later applied to civilian hospitals in the USA. A founding leader of the Cincinnati Center for the Sustainment of Trauma and Readiness Skills (Cincinnati CSTARS), Dr. Johannigman played a pivotal role in establishing lifesaving training programs at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. His leadership impacted over 5,600 military families through humanitarian service, training elite Air Force medical teams. Dr. Johannigman has been recognized for his contributions with numerous awards and certifications, including the 2021 Healthcare Heroes award and the Legion of Merit. His work continues to advance trauma and critical care practices, blending military precision with compassionate care.
