Telehealth doesn't need high patient volumes to create financial impact.

In a hospital with ~25,000 ED visits annually, targeted telehealth coverage in cardiology, neurology, and radiology can generate over $1M in annual value. The driver isn't expanded services but faster access to specialty decisions.

The math:

• 469 inpatient days avoided → $843K in cost avoidance
• 4 telehealth encounters per day → $234K in professional fees
• Total impact: ~$1.08M annually

This model works because it removes bottlenecks.

Patients move through care faster when specialists are accessible when needed, not days later.

If you're curious to see how this applies to your hospital, we can run the numbers based on your volumes and specialties.

Know your family history. Treat the risk factors early.

Dr. Brad Serwer, VitalSolution's Chief Medical Officer, talked with Nifty50Plus about heart disease prevention for people over 50.

"Address common risk factors (high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol) proactively and aggressively," Dr. Serwer said. "It's more advantageous to treat the risk factors than to treat coronary disease after damage has occurred."

The article also covers warning signs people ignore, which blood tests matter most, and why belly fat becomes a bigger problem after 50.

Most high-acuity hospitals have telehealth services. But few are maximizing its financial impact.

If your telehealth program is limited, you're leaving significant revenue on the table.

Here's what enterprise-wide telehealth can deliver:

📉 LOS improvement: ~938 inpatient days avoided → ≈ $1.7M in cost avoidance

📈 Recovered capacity: ~3 additional procedures per day → ≈ $6.2M in incremental revenue

💼 Telehealth encounters: ~7 per day across specialties → ≈ $575K in professional fee revenue

Total: ≈ $8.5M annually

This doesn't require new infrastructure.

It's about expanding telehealth beyond your initial use case to cardiology, neurology, radiology, psychiatry, and hospitalist services.

Are you getting this kind of impact from your current telehealth program?

What's the #1 heart health rule cardiologists live by?

Small, consistent changes beat drastic lifestyle overhauls every time.

Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brad Serwer, was recently featured in PARADE Magazine discussing sustainable approaches to heart health:

"Lifestyle modification that can be sustained over decades is required to minimize the impact of cardiovascular disease."

The article shares three small, actionable changes you can start today:

- Take the stairs instead of the elevator
- Swap chips for an apple at lunch
- Park a little farther to walk more

Most critical access hospitals (CAHs) think specialty services are out of reach.

Too expensive. Too complicated. Not realistic for a small hospital.

Here's what they're missing:

Our telehealth solution delivers cardiology, radiology, psychiatry, neurology, AND hospitalist services — for less than the cost of hiring one local physician.

What this means for your patients:

✔ Cardiac consultations locally instead of 2-hour drives
✔ Imaging studies read promptly instead of sitting in backlog
✔ Access to telepsychiatry care when they need it most
✔ The specialized care your community deserves

Your hospital's size shouldn't limit your patients' access to quality care.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect reminder to show love in all its forms — for partners, for friends, and yes…for your own heart.

This year, celebrate by giving your most essential organ the care and attention it deserves. ❤️

Here are a few meaningful ways to keep your heart healthy and happy:

🏃‍♀️ Move With Love

Physical activity protects your heart and boosts your mood. Take a walk with someone you love, dance in the living room, or enjoy a workout that gets your heart pumping in all the right ways.

🥗 Choose Heart‑Happy Foods

Nourish your body with colorful fruits and veggies, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Think of it as giving your heart a gourmet Valentine’s gift.

🧘 Prioritize Calm

Stress impacts heart health, so make room for relaxation: deep breathing, meditation, a warm bath, or even quiet time with a good book. Your heart will thank you.

🚭 Break Up With Smoking

If you or someone you care about smokes, quitting is one of the most meaningful acts of love you can give your heart this year.

👩‍⚕️ Stay Connected With Your Care Team

Regular check‑ups -- especially with a cardiologist -- play a powerful role in preventing heart disease. If it’s been a while, consider scheduling a visit this season.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

XOXO, 💋

Cardiologists agree: while there’s no single "miracle food" for heart health, the daily choices you make can meaningfully reduce your risk of heart disease.

Many heart‑healthy habits start with simple, familiar foods and not restrictive dieting.

Nutrient‑dense options like fruits, beans, and whole grains can support healthier cholesterol levels, better blood pressure, and stronger cardiovascular health over time.

"Whole grains like oats and brown rice provide fiber, which can help lower 'bad' cholesterol," says Brad Serwer, MD FACC FSCAI, Chief Medical Officer at VitalSolution. Fiber also helps manage high blood pressure — one of the biggest risk factors for heart disease.

Today is National Wear Red Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease — the No. 1 killer of women.

Fewer than 55% of women know heart disease is their leading health threat, and less than half know what healthy levels are for key risk factors like blood pressure and cholesterol.

Wear Red Day may just be one day, but the entire month of February is American Heart Month, so you have ample time to join the movement.

Visit WearRedDay.org to learn how you can get involved and show support!

We all know heart disease remains one of the biggest health challenges in the U.S., but a new study highlights just how widespread the risk factors really are.

The latest American Heart Association data show that nearly 90% of U.S. adults have at least one sign of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome, a cluster of interconnected risk factors tied to heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and kidney issues.

That’s encouraging in one way--fewer people are dying from heart attacks and strokes--but the silent buildup of risk factors is still a major concern.

As Brad Serwer, MD, chief medical officer at VitalSolution, put it:

"We have to look aggressively at the data regarding our youth and target ways to combat childhood obesity, high blood pressure and metabolic syndromes which will manifest as cardiovascular disease down the road."
