With one in eight couples suffering from infertility and 7.3 million women requiring infertility treatment during their reproductive years—according to the National Survey of Family Growth—infertility has become a pervasive and silent tormentor, often shrouded in secrecy and shame. Impacting men and women alike, infertility does not discriminate and can have devastating long-term effects, physically, emotionally, and financially.
For those struggling with infertility the battle can be all consuming. In addition to the toll it can take on a woman’s body and the emotional dejection of multiple failed cycles, the financial burden placed on couples battling infertility cannot be overstated. The average cost of one-round of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in the United States is $12,500 not including medication costs, which can range from $1,000-$5,000 per round of IVF. And, because IVF is not guaranteed to result in pregnancy, many couples may require multiple rounds to become pregnant.
The burdens imposed on a couple battling infertility are enormous. Because infertility is a little-known and often misunderstood disease, those diagnosed with infertility can feel isolated and alone. Parental Hope’s mission is to raise infertility awareness and provide emotional and financial support to hopeful couples battling infertility. We do that in the following ways:
1. Through the Parental Hope Family Grants, we help alleviate the financial burden of infertility.
