Beneath the open sky, six flags rise together — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and POW/MIA — each one a symbol of courage, devotion, and love that endures beyond this life.
Here in the Veterans Section at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, the air carries reverence. Every name etched in stone tells a story of faith and service — of hearts that once beat for something greater than themselves.
“The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them.”
— Wisdom 3:1
On this eve of Veterans Day, we pause not only to remember their sacrifice, but to honor the love behind it — love for family, for freedom, and for one another.
May the wind that lifts these flags remind us that their spirits are not lost, but risen — alive in the light of God, where sorrow and war are no more.
We invite you to pray with us:
We pray for those who died in war, victims of violence and strife.
Give them the reward of their labors and grant them eternal rest in Your light,
where sorrow and mourning are no more.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
