Have courage! A baby’s congested nose can get cleared safely with a bulb syringe! You may have gotten one from the hospital nursery, and they are readily available at most stores.

👶🏻 Lay your baby down on their back facing the ceiling.
💦 Drip 2-4 drops of nasal saline into each nostril.
⏱️ Wait 1 minute. This allows the saline to loosen any mucus.
🤌🏼 Squeeze the bulb to empty the air and hold it while inserting the tip into your baby’s nose. Insert it until you make a good seal between the nose and the tip of the bulb suction.
🫴🏼 Slowly release the bulb to suction out the mucus.
🌬️ Remove the bulb and squeeze any mucus out of it to clear it. Wipe it clean if needed.

You can do this up to 4 times per day as needed to clear out any mucus. Your baby will not like it when you do it, but will feel much better and will be able to breathe much easier afterwards. 👶🏻

How many school events are on your calendar in the next few weeks? 😅

A) 1–2 (we’ve got this)
B) 3–5 (it’s getting busy)
C) I’ve completely lost count 🙃

This time of year gets full—for kids and parents. More events, later nights, lots of excitement (and a little extra exhaustion). If your child seems a little more tired, emotional, or off their routine lately… you’re not imagining it 💛

Drop your letter below—we’d love to hear where everyone’s at 👇

Electric scooters and e-bikes are rising in popularity. But are they safe for kids?

E-scooters can reach to speeds of 15-20 mph. 15 mph is as fast as a charging bull! 20 mph is the speed Florence Griffith Joyner, aka Flo- Jo, the Olympic gold medalist, ran to set the 200 meter world record in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. Can you imagine a 10 year old going that fast on a scooter?

The Consumer Product Safety Commission notes that e-scooter injuries rose 66% between 2020 to 2021, and resulted in over 42,000 emergency room visits in 2021. The CDC found that e-scooter accidents caused 68 deaths between 2017 to 2021.

Bottom Line: E-scooters are NOT RECOMMENDED for those under 16 (the age of a teen with a drivers license). To stay safe on an e-scooter or e-bike, follow these Rules of the Road:
1. ALWAYS WEAR A BIKE HELMET and closed toed shoes (sneakers, etc) when riding. Elbow pand and knee pads can also protect the rider in a crash.
2. DO NOT TEXT or carry things in your hands when riding. This goes for conventional scooters and bikes too! Wear a back pack or f***y pack instead.
3. DO NOT WEAR EAR BUDS OR HEADPHONES when riding to stay alert and be aware of cars, people and other hazards.
4. RIDE IN BIKE LANES if possible, and avoid riding on the sidewalk where you could collide with someone walking.

Talk with you kids about safety when riding around the neighborhood this summer. It could save their lives.

☀️ We tend to think of sunscreen as a “beach or pool day thing”… but the truth is—sun exposure in childhood has lifelong consequences.

Here’s what every parent should know about sunburn risk:
⚠️ About 80% of lifetime UV exposure happens before age 18! Childhood isn’t a small window—it’s the most important time for protection.
⚠️ Just 1–2 blistering sunburns can more than DOUBLE the risk of Melanoma later in life

☀️ The good news is that this is preventable. Simple, consistent habits make a real difference:
• SPF 30+ sunscreen (reapply every 2 hours)
• Hats + sunglasses use when outside
• Rash guards/swim shirts
• Seeking shade during peak sun hours (10am–4pm) when UV index is highest

This isn’t about being perfect or limiting outdoor play, it’s about protecting their skin now so it protects them later.

Real talk, here: We don't think of any food as “good” or “bad”. We just focus on having some foods more often and other foods less often. Because as parents, we often hear:
“Don’t eat that, it’s bad for you” or “This is a healthy, good food”

But here’s a better way to look at it—for us and our kids:
✨ Some foods help our bodies grow, stay full, and feel energized
✨ Some foods are fun, tasty, and part of celebrations
✨ Most foods fall somewhere in between

Instead of labeling foods, try thinking:
🥦 “More often foods”: Things we come back to again and again (aka fruits, veggies, proteins, grains, and certain fats that keep us full and satisfied)
🍪 “Less often foods”: Things we enjoy sometimes—because life includes fun, too
(aka sweets, chips, desserts, etc.)

Why this matters:
💛 Kids who learn food this way don’t learn to fear or idolize certain foods
💛 Builds a healthier relationship with food long-term
💛 Takes pressure off you, too

What this can sound like at home:
Instead of: “That’s junk food”
Try: “That’s a sometimes food—we can enjoy it and also eat foods that help our bodies grow”

You don’t have to get it perfect! You’re not raising perfect eaters—you’re raising kids who trust their bodies.

Warm weather is here! Time to buy new swimsuits for your growing kiddos! But before you grab the cutest suit this season—there’s something important most people miss: some swimsuit colors are much easier to see in water than others.

👀 BEST colors for visibility (safer choice):
These stand out strongly in pools, lakes, and oceans:
• Neon pink 💖
• Neon orange 🧡
• Neon yellow 💛
• Bright lime green 💚

They stay visible even when kids are moving, splashing, or underwater.

🚫 COLORS that can disappear in water:
These tend to blend in and are harder to spot quickly:
• White
• Light blue
• Gray
• Black or dark navy

🌊 Why it matters:
Water reduces contrast fast—especially in deep, cloudy, or shaded areas. Bright neon colors help you locate swimmers faster when seconds matter.

💡 Bottom line:
Cute is great—but in the water, bright = safer.
