March is ! We're reminded this month that awareness is more than recognition. It's action. It's partnership. It's showing up in ways that honor each person's voice and lived experience. That's why we're highlighting Advocacy Essentials that guide our work every day:

Center Their Voice - Every person deserves to be heard. We uplift the perspectives, preferences, and goals of the individuals we support because their voice leads the way.
Promote Choice & Control - Empowerment means options. We support people in making decisions about their lives, their routines, and their futures, honoring autonomy at every step.
Know Their Rights - Understanding and upholding disability rights is essential. We help individuals navigate systems, request accommodations, and advocate confidently for what they deserve.
Communicate Clearly & Respectfully - Accessible, honest communication builds trust. We strive to communicate in ways that are supportive, understandable, and rooted in respect.

This month and every month, let's stand up for and celebrate the vibrant contributions people with developmental disabilities make in our communities.

Caregiving has long been a woman-driven profession and today we honor the generations of women whose dedication, advocacy, and resilience have built the foundation of the field. Their work has transformed lives, strengthened families, and expanded opportunities for individuals with disabilities across Ohio and beyond.

It's DD Awareness Month and we're excited to Step into Spring in just a few weeks with Richland Newhope - Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities and more at The Ontario Center! On Wednesday, March 18th, we'll have a booth set up for you to peruse while walking around the center. A free event, we'll be there from 10AM - 12PM, come say hi!
