🖤 Black History Month Spotlight 🖤
This February, we honor James McCune Smith, M.D., a true pioneer in healthcare. Born in 1813, Dr. Smith became the first African American to earn a medical degree — graduating from the University of Glasgow Medical School at a time when Black students weren’t even allowed to attend U.S. medical schools. Upon returning to the U.S., he also became the first Black physician to own and operate a pharmacy, breaking barriers in both medicine and community care. 

His courage and commitment to equitable health access inspire us at Total Training Services — where we train individuals in CPR & First Aid, Medication Administration, DSP skills, and more. All of these certifications empower people to serve, protect, and care for others — continuing the legacy of leaders like Dr. Smith.
