So excited to announce Lunar Birthing Services is officially a part of the Safe Space Alliance! Safe Space Alliance is a non profit dedicated to helping people identify, navigate, and create safe spaces for LGBTQI+ people worldwide! Safe Space Alliance allows businesses to apply to list themselves on their site as a LGBTQI+ safe space, creating a resource so that people can look through the registry to find businesses that will support them. As a member of the LGBTQI+ community myself, it is super important to me to serve my community. Everyone deserves a safe, supported birth experience, regardless of their identity, gender, religion, race, etc. ❤️ You can find the registry at https://safespacealliance.com/

The Cincinnati-Hamilton Community Action Agency (CAA) and Sweet Cheeks Diaper Bank are providing free diapers to Hamilton County families.

🌟 Exciting News for New/Expecting Moms! 🌟

CareSource has introduced a fantastic initiative called Mom's Meals! 🍽️ This program is designed to provide new moms who have just delivered with 28 free meals. The options are diverse, ranging from heart-healthy choices to diabetes-friendly and vegetarian meals. Moms must be My Care/DSNP members. (Medicaid members see update note below)

Here's how it works:
1️⃣ New moms can reach out to their care manager to sign up after delivery.
2️⃣ If you don't have a care manager, no worries! You can contact Member Services at 1-800-488-0134 to enroll in the program.

It's a wonderful way to support our moms during this special time. Let's spread the word and make sure all eligible individuals benefit from this fantastic initiative! 🤰💖

The smell of your newborn baby and breastfeeding both help you produce the hormone oxytocin, which signals your body to start the afterbirth contractions! And gravity never hurt in aiding birth 😉

Skin to skin, breastfeeding, and upright are direct tools in birthing the placenta. It's the body's known and original way.

Babies can take the first breath within about 10 seconds after birth. And in some cases, as you can see in this beautiful image, babies can start to make an effort to take their first breath as soon as their head is born due to their central nervous system reacting to the sudden change in temperature and environment.(👈🏽THIS CHANGE IS WHAT TRIGGERS YOUR BABY TO START TRANSITIONING TO LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE WOMB)

Once the baby takes the first breath, a number of changes occur in the infant's lungs and circulatory system:

❤️Increased oxygen in the lungs causes a decrease in blood flow resistance to the lungs.
❤️Blood flow resistance of the baby's blood vessels also increases.
❤️Fluid drains or is absorbed from the respiratory system.
❤️The lungs inflate and begin working on their own, moving oxygen into the bloodstream and removing carbon dioxide by breathing out (exhalation).
