Hi everyone! We thought we'd share some information about Sober November! We know November has already started but it's never too late to take on a new challenge!

Russell has never been a drinker. He actually hates alcohol lol, but we do know that heavy drinking can lead to kidney disease for others.

So be mindful of your consumption over the holidays, and consider a No Alcohol November. :)

As always, if you or someone you know is interested in learning more about kidney donation, call (513) 585-1440 or email Jacqueline.haney@thechristhospital.com.

Russell gets dialysis treatment three times a week - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It's a draining and exhausting process that usually makes him sick and tired. But it's a life-saving process that keeps him here.

Dialysis is a treatment that removes excess fluid and waste from the blood when the kidneys are no longer functioning properly. The word dialysis comes from the Greek words dia, meaning "through," and lysis, meaning "loosening or splitting".

The graphic below (courtesy Trivitron Healthcare) helps break down how it all works.

Happy Wednesday! You don’t have to be a donor to help Russell find a kidney. It only takes a few minutes to share one of the posts on this page via social media, email or text. The more people that share, the more likely Russell will find a donor.

To learn more about living kidney donation visit Team Share a Spare at https://www.teamshareaspare.org/ to read stories from actual donors.

To begin the testing process, please contact Christ Hospital Donor Coordinator Jackie Haney at (513) 585-1440 or email her at Jacqueline.haney@thechristhospital.com. Thanks!

Almost 100,000 people are on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. If you’re healthy, there's a good chance you can end that wait for at least one person. Maybe more.
