We believe that the journey towards joy and fulfillment doesn’t stop with age. Our signature Tree of Dreams program invites our residents to engage in new adventures, making their lifelong dreams come true.
Our recent recipient was a school teacher for 25 years. She taught kindergarten through 3rd grade in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Every time she told us stories about her days teaching her face would light up and she would smile from ear to ear.
Our team in our Magnolia Trails community immediately thought about a teaching theme for her "Tree of dreams". Our Magnolia Trails Director, Sharon Turner Phipps, called the three schools in Ft. Wayne where the recipient taught. The schools were so excited to help out and make her dreams come true.
Maplewood Elementary School sent a school tote bag, class photos from the 1970's, and hand written cards from the students.
Harrison Hill Elementary School sent hand written stories on lined paper.
Indian Village Elementary School sent a school T-Shirt, current yearbook, and class photos from the 1980's. They also sent teacher quotes and signed 8x11" cards from each grade. The recipients children even went to this elementary school.
Sharon Turner Phipps created a scrapbook from all the donations and a school themed centerpiece for the party. She packaged school worksheets for all the residents to work on during the party. Sharon told the recipient that she would have to grade all the papers. 😆 Our recipient did get a big laugh from that comment.
Sharon also created a glitter apple lapel pin for the recipient to wear.
Hospice of Cincinnati sponsored our party. A big THANK YOU to HOC and volunteers Kay and Kate for providing decorations, refreshments, and baking an apple crumb cake for dessert.
This was a great "Tree of dreams" theme party and we were so happy to see her smile and reminisce about her days teaching. 🍎
