We all know that it seems to get harder to get up (from a chair, from the floor, etc), recover from a fall, or keep up with younger people in your family/friend group as we age.⁣

Studies literally show about 30% of adults over age 70 have trouble with walking, getting up out of a chair, or climbing stairs. ⁣

Typically, muscle mass and strength increase steadily from birth and reach their peak around 30-35 years of age. It decreases slowly from there and then gets faster after age 65 for women and 70 for men.⁣

At , we focus on continually building muscle to keep as much of it as you can while you age, and also on moving functionally to help you walk, stand up, and move well despite getting older.⁣

Don’t let this be a problem for future you. ⁣

Taking this Member Monday to shout out all of our members who may think they can’t do something, listen to the encouragement from coaches and other clients, and prove to themselves that they’re stronger then they realized.⁣

Let’s talk DEAD HANGS⁣

Dead hangs are an incredible test of grip strength (and also an incredible way to increase your grip strength)⁣

Why is grip strength important?⁣

It often means that you’re lifting heavy things (hello strength training!) which in turn means the density of your bones is improving (which is very important if you ever fall - less likely that you’ll break a hip or another bone 😉)⁣
