I’m proud to introduce something that has been growing organically in my work for a long time…

The Emergency Support & Mutual Aid Network — ("The Network") a community-powered program of Empowered Peace Birth Services, Inc.

Every day, we encounter families navigating urgent needs—food insecurity, housing instability, lack of transportation, and gaps in essential support during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.

"The Network" was created to respond in real time.

It’s built on: when community shows up for each other, lives change.

Through this initiative, we have provided:
• Promotion of Maternal Health and Wellness
• Emergency Support for basic needs
• Resource Navigation and referrals
• Mutual Aid powered by people who care

If you’ve ever wanted a direct way to support families in our community—this is it.

Ways to get involved are coming soon, but for now:

Breathwork in childbirth is low-key one of the most powerful tools a birthing person has.

1. Calms the Nervous System (Less Fear = Less Pain)
2. Reduces Muscle Tension; You’ll hear doulas say: “Loose jaw, loose hands, loose pelvis.”
3. Changes How Pain Is Experienced
4. Improves Oxygen Flow for Parent + Baby
5. Creates a Sense of Control

Breathwork supports physiology, pain coping, emotional regulation, and stamina all at once.

It helps labor move from a fear–tension–pain cycle into a rhythm–release–progress cycle.

It’s simple. It’s free. And when practiced ahead of time, it becomes second nature when labor gets real.

Research shows that continuous labor support is linked to shorter labors, fewer interventions, and better birth experiences.💪🏽

Doulas provide that support from the first contraction to the first moments after birth, giving consistent guidance, comfort, and reassurance to families every step of the way.

📣 More and more insurers are recognizing doula support!🎉

Some U.S.-based insurance programs and government health plans now reimburse DONA-certified doulas, including certain Medicaid programs in states like NY, NJ, VA, and WA, along with Tricare for active-duty military families.

Some private plans may cover services too, but it’s always best to check with your provider.

If you’re an aspiring doula or a family considering doula support, DONA certification can help make care more accessible.💪🏽
