It’s World Doula Week, and we’re celebrating the incredible community of doulas right here in Cincinnati!

Doulas are trained professionals who walk alongside moms throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum — offering physical and emotional support while making sure mom’s voice is heard.

Research shows that having a doula can lead to fewer C-sections, increased breastfeeding success and a better overall birthing experience.

Cincinnati is lucky to have many amazing doulas in our community, including:

Adrienne’s Love LLC
Me&She Doula Services
NyNi Inc
Blaq Birth Circle
Cherished Hearts Family Support Services

Know a doula we missed? Tag them in the comments.

Let’s make sure every mom knows where to find the support they deserve. 💜

See the full list of Black Maternal Health Week events here:

Held annually from April 11 – 17, Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) events are focused on amplifying the voices, perspectives and lived experiences of Black mamas and birthing people.

Today, we join organizations across the country in recognizing Maternal Health Awareness Day.

Every mother deserves care that is respectful, informed and supportive — before, during and after pregnancy.

Here's how our community can help make this happen:

• Connecting moms-to-be with prenatal care and support early, including community health workers and doulas

• Helping mothers recognize warning signs after birth and making sure concerns are heard and taken seriously

• Checking in during the postpartum period and helping new moms access mental health support

Together, we can strengthen maternal care and help every mom thrive.

Meet Mia, the newest member of our team!

As Queens Village Navigator, Mia supports moms through QV Corner at UC Center for Women's Health and Cincinnati Health Department's Ambrose and Bobbie Sterne Health Centers. These curated spaces in prenatal health center waiting rooms connect Black women with a community of support, resources and a place to rest.

Mia's journey with Queens Village Cincinnati began by attending events before becoming a member of the advisory board — and then a member of our team. “I decided to get more involved with the hopes of not only connecting with more women, but also by serving my community."

Her favorite part of QV Corner so far? Connecting with moms and helping them be seen. "Even a simple check in by phone shows that no action is too small to provide impact.”

Please join us in giving Mia a warm welcome!

Sleep when baby sleeps, not where they sleep.

Baby needs their own safe sleep space and so do you. Doctors recommend that parents and babies up to one year of age sleep in the same room, each in their own safe places.

Keep them close in a crib, bassinet or pack 'n play beside your bed.

You can both sleep better when you share the room, not the bed.

We’re looking for a community health worker to join our team!

Community health workers provide parents with the immediate help and support they need to care for themselves and their infants.

This vital support is as varied as each family’s needs — from connecting families to baby supplies to helping moms schedule and get to and from their doctor appointments, securing housing, and everything in between.

If you have a passion for the health of babies and families, consider applying!

In the last 20 years, nearly 80,000 babies in the US have died from Sudden Unexpected Infant Death. Even the loss of one baby is too many.

You can help protect your baby during sleeptime by:
✅ Placing them on their back for every sleep
✅ In their own crib, bassinet or pack n play
✅ With nothing but baby (no pillows, blankets, toys or other people)
