We are thrilled to introduce our new consultant, Dawn Millhouse! Dawn will be operating out of the Dayton area. A little more information about Dawn:
I am the Parent Mentor for Centerville and Oakwood Schools, where I support families in navigating special education and building strong school partnerships. I am married to my husband, Rob, and together we have three adult children: Madison (26), Jacki (24), and Alan (21). Our youngest son, Alan, has Down syndrome, and our family’s journey through special education has shaped my passion for advocacy, inclusion, and family engagement.
In addition to my work as a Parent Mentor, I am a contractor with Maine Champion Coaching, where I am excited to bring my lived experience navigating the transition to adulthood for individuals with disabilities into my professional work. I am passionate about helping families and professionals plan proactively, build meaningful partnerships, and create pathways toward a full and inclusive adult life. I also serve as a panelist and Executive Board member for SAPEC, contributing both personal and professional insight to statewide discussions that impact students with disabilities.
Locally, I serve as a board member for TOPSoccer South Dayton and Journey League Basketball Ohio, coordinate Buddy Up Fitness Kettering, and am an active member of the Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association. I am involved in several other community groups focused on inclusion, recreation, and support for individuals with disabilities. I am especially passionate about inclusive opportunities, family-school collaboration, and supporting students as they transition into adulthood. I am honored to contribute both lived experience and professional perspective to support families across our region and our state.
