Yesterday, our Executive Director and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Alicia Patterson had the incredible honor of traveling to Washington, D.C. on an Honor Flight serving as a guardian for her father, Ed Harter.

Ed, an Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam era, had the honor of participating in the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery during the trip. When asked about his favorite part of the day, he shared that there wasn’t a single moment he didn’t enjoy.

We are so proud of Alicia and her dad and grateful they were able to share such a meaningful experience together. A heartfelt thank you to Honor Flight Tri-State for everything they do to give our veterans the trip of a lifetime.

Our team is incredibly proud of Randy C. and the growth he’s shown throughout his recovery journey. He’s embraced the process, turning anger into gratitude and consistently seeking ways to help and support others. Randy is an inspiration to our entire community. As the Army veteran says, “This is a special place. I don’t know where I would be today without Joseph House.”

Today, on Vietnam Veterans Day, we honor the men and women who served during the Vietnam War.

Many returned home without the recognition, understanding or support they deserved. Today, we say clearly: we see you, we thank you and we honor you.

Our veterans and staff kicked off Opening Day yesterday with a great cookout! Huge shoutout to Senior Peer Support Specialist Clarence “Mike” Johnson for manning the grill with burgers and hot dogs, and to Transportation Coordinator Donnie Lionberger for putting together an impressive 100 deviled eggs.
