Teacher Feature ✨Meet Leslie

What song always gets you moving? Kendrick Lamar, Bon Iver, Bob Marley, Erykah Badu, MC Yogi and Hemanos Gutierrez have been my go-to's lately. Music is natural medicine

What inspired you to become a yoga/fitness instructor? I found yoga again in my late 20's when I decided to get married and have children. This is when I left the corporate world and changed my career to become a yoga instructor. I thank God every day that I teach yoga for a living. I can truly say that I love my job!

What’s your favorite class to teach and why? I used to love teaching Ashtanga and crazy Rocket yoga classes with a ton of inversions and arm balances. Now, as I move into my later years I am really seeing the benefits of slowing down my flow sequences. Yin Yoga has been an incredible new discovery both for myself and my teachings. I work a lot with athletes and they need yin yoga more than anything. Life is very busy and chaotic. The body and mind also need healing by slowing down the pausing. This has been my mantra for myself and my students lately.

What’s one thing your students might be surprised to learn about you? I spend a lot of my time playing the piano. I used to be a concert pianist when I was young. It has been fun to get back into my old piano books. While I am not near as good as I was before, I am giving myself grace with learning these musical skills again.

How do you want people to feel when they leave your class? To me, yoga is a shift. It's hard to say how I want people to feel because sometimes that shift might be working out some really tough things. I would say I hope they leave the class with a better understanding of what they truly want out of the day ahead. Finding the time to be alone on the yoga mat is such a gift. I feel blessed every day to offer this to my students.

In this workshop we will explore the Japanese art of Reiki or Universal (rei) Life Force (ki or qi) Healing. Reiki is a hands-on healing practice but can also be practiced without touching.
The first half we will work with self-healing and/or a reiki circle, The second half will be a Sound Bath with a reiki healing for the group, if desired, from the teacher.

Benefits of Sound Baths include a nervous system reset, vibrational healing, deep relaxation, reduced pain, improved mood through shifting brain waves from active beta waves to slower, meditative alpha and theta waves.

Please bring your mat, and meditation cushion if you have one, but not required.

This workshop promotes less anxiety, better sleep, focused mind, and calm emotions. Join Leslie in this lightly heated 90 minute yin yoga workshop that focuses on nourishing your heart, lungs and intestines. Students will not only feel the bliss of long held yoga postures, but also learn about the reasons why the postures promote balance in the organs to feed the soul.

Meditation and an extra long savasana will be encouraged in the end.
