Social Workers positively impact the lives of millions of Americans daily, in hospitals, schools, child welfare agencies, and throughout the community. Their impact is felt nationwide. For more than a century, this profession has worked to improve human well-being, advocate for justice, and support everyone’s basic needs.
Social Workers select this profession out of a deep commitment to help uplift, defend, and transform the lives of people, their families and communities. THCC would like to give a huge shout out, and a proud thank you to all Social Workers! Especially the ones within our organization. The work we do as a community health center would not be possible without their work and dedication.

Every year on March 10th, and throughout the month of March, organizations come together to shed light on the impact of HIV and AIDS on women and girls and to show support for those at risk of and living with HIV. This year marks the 20th annual observance of National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
This year we focus on addressing the challenges women and girls face in accessing HIV/AIDS treatment and eliminating barriers to health care access for women and girls with HIV/AIDS, such as lack of insurance, geographical location, or stigma.
By working together, we can help end HIV and improve the quality of treatment and care for women and girls currently living with HIV.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Support Community Health Centers! Learn more below:

➡️ TAKE ACTION TODAY! Send a letter asking your members of Congress to add their names to the Community Health Center Funding FY27 Appropriations letter.

Each year, Congress has to approve 30% of funding for Community Health Centers (CHCs). For this to happen, we need to demonstrate overwhelming bipartisan support for our funding. We do this by asking every member of Congress to sign a letter calling for robust funding for CHCs. The more members that sign the letter, the stronger the message to Congressional leadership about the need to support CHCs and the 52 million patients we serve.

We need your help to get your members of Congress to sign on! 👉https://bit.ly/CHCFY27Approps

Mary Mahoney was the first Black woman to graduate from a nursing program and the first to earn a professional nursing license. She was one of 42 students admitted to the New England Hospital for Women and Children Training School for Nurses in Boston, Massachusetts. Mahoney completed the rigorous 16-month program in 1878. After graduating, she stayed in Boston and became a private-duty nurse.

Mahoney was an early member of what would later become the American Nurses Association (ANA). She was a strong advocate for equality in nursing education and a passionate supporter of women’s suffrage.
Thanks to pioneers like Mahoney, opportunities have expanded for Black and female nurses, increasing representation and improving access to quality care for all patients. Happy Black History Month!!!

Happy Black History Month! As we celebrate this month, we will highlight the significant achievements of African Americans throughout our nation's history.

Today, we focus on Dr. Patricia Bath, the first African American to complete an ophthalmology residency at New York University. After finishing her residency, Bath conducted a study where she discovered that rates of blindness and visual impairment were much higher at the eye clinic at Harlem Hospital compared to the clinic at Columbia University. Throughout her career, Bath continued to explore inequities in vision care. She also became the first African American woman to serve as a surgeon on the staff at UCLA Medical Center. Bath created the discipline of community ophthalmology, which approaches vision care from the perspectives of community medicine and public health.
