From Star Caregiver to Nurse 👩⚕️
Janera has always had a heart for caring for others. Her compassionate nature led her to care for her grandmother until she passed away. After that experience Janera decided she wanted to help others in similar situations by becoming a professional caregiver.
After nearly 29 years in caregiving, Janera decided it was finally time to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. For decades she put her dreams on hold, so she could help her children finish school first. Doing things, in her words, “backwards” is what worked best for her family.
Going back to school was not easy. She found herself studying alongside 19-year-olds while balancing many responsibilities and sometimes doubting herself. But with encouragement from her Assisting Hands manager, Robin, and support from doctor and nurse friends, she realized she was capable of much more than she believed.
The moment she learned she passed and officially became an LPN was unforgettable. Janera calls it a “God moment.” Her children and mother celebrated with pride and excitement.
Now, as an LPN, Janera is excited to grow beyond the aide role, help manage patients’ care, and continue making a difference. And she is not done yet. One day, she hopes to become an RN.
