This is good!
Today’s Autistic run account highlight is Autistic Callum! He says:
“Autism Awareness Month is now upon us! I thought a fun first post for the month would be a visual slide depicting some common autistic love languages, in part to debunk the myth that autistic people "can't love".
Then, when I discussed the slide with ADHD'ers I know, they told me that so many of the above actions are ones they do for those they love, so the slide became an Autistic and ADHD Love Languages slide.
It's not based on deep research or psychology, but lived experience, so l've tried to make it more human and less technical. But, because language can sometimes be a bit vague or technical, I would like to add:
Body doubling = working alongside someone else (like having an accountability partner).
Parallel play = usually when kids play side by side, but doing separate things. This can apply to adults too, and might happen with two people sitting together reading separate books, or one doing yoga and the other playing video games, for example. Essentially, enjoying leisure together but not necessarily performing the same task with each other.
What would you add to the list? ⬇️”
