We have run all kinds of kinds when it comes to water troughs. By far Tusker has been the best to date.

Same amount of cattle on all these tanks, same open to the elements and zero electricity.

Water is so vital during cold snaps and extreme heat I never want to have to worry about anything other than making sure cows and calves are cared for and healthy!!

❄️ Cold + Wet + Wind = High Stress for Cattle 💨

Calves 0–5 days old are the most vulnerable. They can’t regulate body temperature well, and a wet calf can experience cold stress at temps as high as 55°F.

When young calves get cold, energy meant for growth and immunity is burned just to stay warm—raising the risk of scours, pneumonia, and loss.

Deep, dry bedding and shelter are critical in those first days.

Older calves and cows aren’t immune either. Prolonged wet, windy, freezing conditions increase stress, raise energy requirements, and can impact body condition, milk production, and overall performance.

Cold weather happens. Managing cold stress makes the difference.

We’re excited to welcome another healthy calf through our Custom Calving Service.

Our custom calving program offers peace of mind for clients with high-value pregnancies or animals. We accept cows anytime from two weeks up to two days prior to calving, and from there, we handle the entire calving process with experienced, attentive care.

What our Custom Calving Service provides:
• Cow check-in 2 weeks to 2 days before calving
• Close monitoring and hands-on calving assistance as needed
• Immediate post-calving care for both cow and calf
• Calf goes home at two weeks of age
• First vaccinations completed before pickup
• Additional services available upon request

Your animals are cared for as if they were our own—so when they head home, they’re healthy, strong, and off to the right start.
