BHRT stands for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, which is the use of hormones that are chemically identical to the ones your body naturally makes to help restore balance when levels drop with age or certain health conditions. It is most commonly used to ease symptoms of menopause or perimenopause—like hot flashes, low energy, mood changes, low libido, and many more—by replenishing hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone. Because the hormones are structurally the same as the body’s own, many people find BHRT to be a more natural option for hormone support. Preventing hormone deficiency can also decrease risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and cognitive decline.
