Many people think that you are unconscious when in hypnosis, however, you are fully aware of what's happening around you. Every experience is a little different of course. Some people feel light, some feel heavy, but almost everyone feels very relaxed.

Some people fear that you can get stuck in hypnosis and be unable to wake up. This will not happen. It is possible that you drift into natural sleep, and after 5 or 10 minutes you wake up naturally. Some people may even use hypnosis as a bridge into natural sleep.

One myth related to hypnosis is that you can get stuck and be unable to wake up. This is wrong; no one ever gets "stuck" in hypnosis. It is a natural and normal state to be in from time to time. It's not a state that is completely alien to us. It is, however, a subjective experience and everyone will experience it differently.

The problem with being told by a Dr. "you need to relax" is that you are never really given the tools for knowing how to relax. If you want to feel in balance with yourself and the world around you, and truly learn to relax, hypnosis is the best state to be in.

Have you been told that hypnosis can be bad for your health? This is a myth. Hypnosis relies on relaxation, and many health experts would agree that there are benefits to relaxation. It helps to bring about a homeostatic balance, that is, a balance within the system of mind, body and soul, emotionally and physically.

One of the things that is important to remember about hypnosis is that it's not sleep, and you are aware of everything that's happening around you. If someone tells you to do something that is really against your value, then you won't do it. In fact chances are you would be shocked out of hypnosis.

Some patients fear that when in hypnosis, you can be made to say or do something against your will. Generally though, hypnosis is a state of heightened suggestion. Generally, people wont' do anything which goes against their personal values or beliefs.

Have you ever heard that people who get hypnotized are weak minded? This is a common myth. Without a doubt it's the people who can concentrate well and have a creative imagination that find the most success with hypnosis. We are all susceptible to suggestion, but it's just a matter of to what degree.

A common misconception about hypnosis is that it will only work on certain people. It may be more useful for some people, however it is mainly down to the participant's motivation, their willingness, and their ability to concentrate.

There is a deep mystery surrounding hypnosis for most people. The truth is though; hypnotists just have knowledge and experience of human interactions. Because of this, with sufficient effort and practice, therapists are able to use hypnosis to treat a variety of conditions.

Like all types of phobias, cases of social phobia range from mild to severe, sometimes interfering with the ability to go to school or interview for a job. It's been estimated that 15 million Americans have social anxiety disorder.

Of the many types of phobia, social phobia is perhaps most commonly seen in young people, many as young as 13 years old, according to Anxiety and Depression Association of America. Unfortunately, social phobia is sometimes considered shyness.
