This past weekend, two sibling groups of foster children arrived on campus with almost nothing - both groups with only the clothes they were wearing, one group without even shoes.
The first days of foster care are intense. Families have a few days to schedule pediatrician and dental visits, enroll children in school, meet urgent needs, and assist them in feeling safe - all before any state support begins (which takes weeks.)
While Hope Harbor and Thrift Harbor are helping, we can't do it alone. We're asking our supporters to step in by supporting through our Amazon wish list (linked below.)
As we do not know the sizes of children until they arrive on campus, we are wanting to keep a stock of pajamas, socks, and underwear for both girls and boys, sizes 3T through 14. That way, regardless of who arrives when, at least they will have clean pajamas to sleep in that first night, and something to put on the next day until we can have a chance to resolve the rest.
Our highest priority needs on the list are the urgent items we could use now.
James 1:27 reminds us to care for children in their time of need. This is our opportunity to do just that. Thank you for loving these children well.
