As we prepare to welcome our members and their families for our annual Easter Brunch today, we’re incredibly grateful for our creative culinary team at The Birches!

This week, they shared a beautiful Lithuanian tradition—margučiai—teaching residents the art of natural egg dyeing using onion skins, herbs, and grasses to create unique patterns and colors! Each egg became a unique work of art, thoughtfully wrapped and patterned before boiling.

margučiai is a reminder that beauty can be found in simplicity, patience, and staying connected to nature—and we loved seeing that spirit come to life in our community!

Thank you to our amazing dining team, with a special shout out to Chef Irina, for always bringing culture, creativity, and joy to our residents this Easter season!

Our members had good laughs and good times at Irish Times in Brookfield, IL this month! We always enjoy gathering with the neighbors out in the neighborhood!

A feature on today's menu is Birches' homemade seafood salad! It is popular for our members to order half order of our entrees because you get so much food here at The Birches! Lunch includes soup and dessert, and guests are always welcomed to join! Of course, if our members are craving a burger, turkey sandwich, or anything in particular, our Always Available menu has a variety of daily options prepped by our culinary team!

Solo Agers please join us with your friends and RSVP for the class on Solo Aging at the College of DuPage - Westmont Center or the College of DuPage Glen Ellyn next month! RSVPs are limited and the class size fills up quickly! Living solo does not mean aging alone and we have plenty of tips for you!

We were delighted to welcome Gerry Dignan back to The Birches this week! ☘️

Our members truly enjoyed the beautiful Irish music and heartfelt stories he shared, which brought so much joy and spirit to our St. Patrick’s Day season! Thank you, Gerry, for spending time with our community and helping make our continued celebration so special!

Funny thing about tours lately… many arrive with the same story: “The food where Mom lives is… well… not great.” We just have to call it out... food does matter!

Then they discover something different here at The Birches! Our culinary team cooks from a scratch kitchen, using fresh ingredients, resident input, and plenty of variety. The best part? Our team members eat the same meals our residents do!

The result: happy full bellies, and often pleasantly surprised guests choosing to reserve an apartment to make a positive change in their loved ones’ quality of life.

Good food, good company, and yes… we even compost. 🌱

As we celebrate the close of the Winter Olympics, we’re cheering on Team USA and ALL of this year’s incredible Olympians!

Their dedication, teamwork, and perseverance inspire us every day.

Our members brought that same spirit to their own “Olympic Curling” event — proving that when we work together, support one another, and have a little fun along the way, amazing things happen!

Here’s to teamwork, determination, and going for the gold at every age!

Make sure to drop off any baby donation supplies (no toys please!) by tomorrow to The Birches to support our local Clarendon Hills Lions Club and the wonderful volunteers at HCS Family Services to support families in need! Our Lions hope to fill the HCS Van this Saturday! We need baby wipes, diapers, shampoo, pull-ups, toothpaste, and adult hygiene products welcomed! Our bin is in our lobby until about 3p Friday!

PLEASE SHARE for one last push to donate baby supplies (no toys please!) for HCS Family Services at any of our designated drop off locations by Friday 3p if you cannot make it to our event this Saturday at The Open Door in Village of Clarendon Hills 2-5pm!!

Today we’re celebrating the incredible talents of The Jolly Boys of Oakbrook, who filled our home with holiday spirit and joyful music! Their visit brought smiles, laughter, and the kind of cheer only live music and neighborly connection can create!

Moments like these remind us how powerful community connection can be—especially for seniors! Engaging with local neighbors strengthens belonging, boosts mood, and helps build meaningful relationships that brighten the entire season! We love what we do, we love where we live, and we love the neighbors, businesses, and community we are surrounded with!
