I'm not a runner. 26.2 miles is not on my bucket list. However, I train a lot of runners. Not because I know what a runner's high feels like. But because I want them to be good. To succeed in their sport. And most importantly, to do so without getting injured.

This past weekend Manpreet completed the Marine Corps Marathon. And, well, I'll let him tell you the rest:

Hello Coach Corey - I wanted to share some exciting news—my son Vir and I completed the MCM yesterday! While I improved my time by 10 minutes, he still managed to beat me. 😊

What struck me most was how much stronger I felt throughout the race compared to last year. Despite being 10 pounds heavier (all muscle, thanks to Clarksburg Fitness' Strength & Cardio program!), I had significantly more endurance and power. The difference between last year's marathon, with less than a year in the program, and this year's experience after nearly two years of consistent training was remarkable. This race really proved to me that the program delivers real results, especially for endurance athletes. The combination of strength and cardio work has elevated my overall fitness in ways I can clearly measure now. Of course, it requires commitment and consistency, but the supportive community of members and the exceptional coaching team you've built make showing up easy and enjoyable.

Thank you for creating such an effective program and fostering such a positive environment. I'll be back in the gym later this week after a couple days of recovery!

Great job Manpreet (and Vir). Your work has paid off. Ten pounds heavier and still shaved 10 minutes off your time. Most runners will tell you that's not how it's done. But more than your impressive time, you're leading by example! One of the best things a parent can do is stay active with their kids. Congratulations and can't wait to start training again. Maybe we'll knock another 10 minutes off the time next year. And by "we" I obviously mean YOU!

Your protein powder is SAFE — here’s the truth Consumer Reports left out.

Everyone’s talking about that “lead in protein powder” article… and just taking the danger at face value.

I took this personally because I drink protein every day!
So I dug into the numbers, and there’s a MAJOR flaw in the story.

Here’s what you need to know 👇

✅ Yes, there are trace amounts of lead in protein powders, just like there are trace amounts in spinach, strawberries, and even apples. Plants naturally absorb minerals (good and bad) from the soil.

❌ But Consumer Reports used a number from California's Prop 65 warning levels, which are 150–500x stricter than global health standards.

Injury doesn’t mean inactivity.

Too often when someone tweaks a shoulder, knee, or back, their first reaction is to stop training altogether.
But here’s the truth... one injury doesn’t shut down your entire body.

If you injure your shoulder, you can still train your legs, core, and lower body.
If your knee is giving you trouble, you can still strengthen your upper body and improve mobility.

When you stop altogether, two things happen:
1️⃣ You lose the habit (and routine is everything).
2️⃣ You start from scratch when you finally come back.

Maintaining your routine — even in a modified form — keeps your momentum going, supports recovery, and helps you return stronger.

And remember, when your doctor says, “Don’t squat,” they usually mean don’t load up a barbell and go heavy without supervision.
Because, let’s be honest — if you couldn’t squat at all, how would you even get off the toilet? 🤦‍♂️
