🌿 Every Birth Story Matters. Every Mama Deserves Support. 🌿

According to the Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance (MMHLA):
➡️ 1 in 3 birthing people report feeling traumatized by their childbirth experience.
➡️ 1 in 5 report experiencing mistreatment during pregnancy or childbirth.

These numbers remind us that birth should be empowering—not traumatic. Access to compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive mental health care is essential for every mama.

We’re grateful for the incredible organizations leading the charge to expand awareness, access, and healing support for mamas and families. Here are a few national and local organizations making an impact:

✨ Black Mamas Matter Alliance – www.blackmamasmatter.org

✨ Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of Color – www.pmhapoc.org

✨ Shades Of Blue Project – www.shadesofblueproject.org

✨ Postpartum Support International – www.postpartum.net

✨ Mom.ME. - https://www.momme.rocks/

"Boots on the Ground: Rooted in Breastfeeding Success, Grounded in Community Support".

The theme recognizes the inherent tradition, resilience, and health benefits of breastfeeding within Black communities. While it underscores that success is not achieved in isolation but through a network of culturally grounded care, peer support, and community-based resources that understand and center the realities of Black families.

Happy ! This is a time to celebrate and bring to the forefront the work of the boots on the ground (breastfeeding advocates, mamas, and families) are doing the other 51 weeks out of the year to give our babies a healthy start in life and share the long-term mental and physical health benefits for mamas.

Let us invest in preventive health from the beginning and work with nature not against it.

After giving birth, it takes a woman 6 months to heal her wounds, 12 months to recover physically, 2 years to balance her hormones, and up to 5 years to rediscover her identity. 💗
Relationships often face difficulties during this period of time due to lack of understanding.
Be kind and patient with moms, they are facing more challenges than you know.
