I was getting Cam dressed this week and he told me the shirt I picked out “wasn’t cool”…….🤨

I quickly said, “Cool is a mindset.”.

“Cool” has nothing to do with the clothes you wear, car you drive, or house you live in.
Cool is how you treat others and, most importantly, how you treat yourself.

It’s cool to be kind.
It’s cool to share.
It’s cool to listen.
It’s cool to be patient.
It’s cool to be respectful.

The sooner you realize that, the easier your life is going to be.

So stay cool, my dude…..and get dressed.

For years, we’ve talked about doing Botox.
She finally decided to give it a try, and, when I saw her for a follow up, she said “Omg! I feel so much better!”….

Notice, she didn’t say “I look so much better.”.

Often, we think of cosmetics and skincare and associate it with appearance but disregard the reasons behind why someone puts forth the effort to do it.

To feel less tense.
To feel more confidant.
To feel refreshed.

In a field dominated by looks, my goal is always the same…..to make everyone “feel so much better”.

As she was leaving, she laughed and said, “I should really start doing more things that make me feel good.”.

I couldn’t agree more.

Midweek Thoughts:

Teenagers coming in for the first time without their parents might be my favorite patients.

Dimming someone else’s light doesn’t make yours brighter.

Call it lame but sunscreen is the most important part of an anti-aging skincare routine.

It’s impossible to talk and listen at the same time.

Retinols should be started slowly.

You can’t control the outcome but you can control your attitude and effort.

Recently, I let my inbox pile up. 😬 I was chipping away at messages after bedtime and started with my usual, “I’m so sorry for the delay. Thank you for your patience!”……

What she said will stick with me forever. She replied, “Never apologize for living your life.”.🥹

The simplest reminder that you never have to apologize to the people that get it.

They get the never-ending to do list.
They get the constant juggling act.
They get taking a break from busy to enjoy the boring.
They get that life moves fast and it’s nice to slow down.

So, here’s to living life unapologetically, but, more importantly, here’s to the people that get it. 🥰

At the start of the week, a patient told me, “We’re all living someone’s dream.”….

Ain’t that the truth?!?

Someone would kill to have a career they love.

Someone would kill to struggle balancing that career with motherhood.

Someone would kill to stay up late responding to messages from strangers who trust their advice.

Someone would kill to have a husband who wrestles with their kids.

Someone would kill to have to clean a house made messy by their busy toddler.

Someone would kill to wake up to a crying baby in the middle of the night.

At the end of the week, a patient told me, “You’re the reason my daughter is applying to PA school.”…

Hang on, sis. The dream is pretty great.
