What an honor it is to be a part of so many wonderful people’s lives. This one also happens to be a vital member of our team here at GNS🤍💙
If GNS Medical has been a part of your story, we’d love to hear about it!
Today on World Diabetes Day, I’m taking a moment to reflect on what 31 years of living with Type 1 Diabetes has meant, and how much has changed for me over just the past year.
This year has been transformational. Joining GNS Medical pulled me deeper into the diabetes community than I’ve ever been, and it’s changed my life for the better. Being surrounded by people have have a passion for supporting others living with T1D, and making this my career has given my diagnosis a new sense of purpose.
I’ve made meaningful connections with other T1Ds across Michigan and beyond. I’ve taken better care of myself and this year, I achieved my best A1C ever. That alone feels like a milestone worth celebrating.
Some highlights from this past year:
- Attended Slipstream, an adult T1D camp where I found real community and lifelong friends.
- Served on medical staff at Camp Midicha, an experience that was truly life changing and reminded me why community matters so much.
- Joined the Board of Directors for Diabetes SoluT1ons, giving me the opportunity to advocate for and support others on a bigger scale.
- Started PureT1D, a community for Type 1 Diabetics across Michigan. In just 6 months, we’ve brought together 67 T1Ds for in-person meetups, conversations, and connection. Watching people walk into a room as strangers and leave as friends has been one of the most rewarding parts of my year.
Living with T1D for 31 years hasn’t been easy, but it has shaped me, strengthened me, and connected me with some of the best people I’ve ever met. I’m grateful for every person who has walked this journey with me, and for every opportunity I now have to pay it forward.
Here’s to continuing the work, expanding our community, and supporting every T1D in Michigan and beyond.
Happy World Diabetes Day!!!💙
