Positive Growth Partners With Kids Docs On Wheels Serving DeKalb and Rockdale Schools

The mission of Kids’-Doc-On-Wheels, Inc., (KDOW) is to ensure increased access to high quality and comprehensive pediatric care in the children’s communities as well as their primary daily location – SCHOOL. The virtual, iCare Telemedicine Center mobile unit, serves as a School-based health clinic in schools, Head Start programs, parks and recreation facilities and in the family homes.

KDOW’s Medical Mobile Unit (MMU) serves as a complement to the iCare Telemedicine Center providing on-site services. KDOW also serves as a Primary Care Provider in partnerships with community pediatricians to improve and increase children's access to medical, dental and behavioral health services.

Two New Members Join Positive Growth’s Board of Directors

Staying true to its mission and goals to bring diverse voices and activism to the table, Positive Growth, Inc. adds two new Board of Directors members---Rodney Canada, Senior Director, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) for the Central Division of Comcast. And, Bryant Martin, Senior Manager, Supply Chain at Georgia-Pacific.

Rodney has a long history of in-service volunteering. He believes youths are our future and that is one of the reasons he is excited to join the Positive Growth’s Board of Directors to assist and support the mission of PGI to support underserved youths and those in difficult life situations.

A keen sense of call to service lead Bryant to accept the invitation to join his fellow Positive Growth, Inc. board members to collaborate, productively to improve the quality of life for those served by Positive Growth. His commitment to service on Positive Growth’s Board of Directors is rooted in his belief that everyone deserves a fair opportunity to be successful in life regardless of life’s circumstances.

Positive Growth is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which is actively involved in the overall operations and monitoring of PGI programs and serves in an advisory capacity. The Board makes decisions regarding the direction of PGI. The Board is comprised of members representing business, education, and human services. Board officers shall be elected by the Directors. Each board member can serve up to three consecutive, three yearlong terms.

Positive Growth Selected to Receive BOOST Grant

The Georgia Department of Education has approved Positive Growth, Inc. (PGI) to receive funding through the Building Opportunities in Out-of-School Time (BOOST) Grants Program.

Positive Growth was selected to receive this approved funding through the BOOST Grants Program to use these funds to improve the lives of youths, families and communities as they participate and engage in PGI’s out-of-school programs and services.

Specifically, these funds will have long-term impacts as they are allocated for youths in need of safe spaces to learn, youths experiencing qualify of life transitions and for those seeking and needing additional, continuous educational opportunities.

Funding for the BOOST program comes from the American Rescue Plan, and the grant program is administered by the Georgia Department of Education in partnership with the Georgia Statewide Afterschool Network.

PGI’s out-of-school programs and services are provided in safe, healthy and continuous learning environments. Year-round programs offered by PGI include daily sessions held Monday - Friday, 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Summer Camp, Spring Break and Teacher Planning Day hours, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
