Why is Hepatitis B important to receive after birth? It helps to prevent the transmission during the birthing process of an infected mother. Mother's can be carriers of the virus and not know they have Hepatitis B until it is affecting the liver. With completion of the Hepatitis B vaccine series, also helps protect the infant from caregivers that may have the virus as well.
