Sarah’s groups are up on the website. She will be offering a therapeutic grief group and a teen DBT skills group in the first part of the year. To sign up, go to www.sagewaymentalhealth.com and select the group you’d like to attend. We have some amazing options this year for anyone who might not want traditional therapy or who may want to learn some skills without the significant financial investment that therapy tends to be. We want you to be able to live a healthier life while navigating mental health symptoms and we want to give you the tools to help make it happen.

Group sizes are limited to 12 so make sure you sign up soon. We’ll be launching our spring groups in 2026 so make sure you follow our page to stay up to date on what we have available.

We are officially launching Patrie's 2026 group schedule for the first part of the year. In January, February, and March, Patrie is offering a variety of educational groups that cover several different subjects.

The Therapeutic Journaling group will explore four different journaling techniques that can be used to improve your mental health and focus as well as reducing stress. Each session will explore one of several different types of journaling (traditional, bullet, junk, and shadow).

Integrative Mental Health skills will provide information about the holistic approaches to mental health treatment that incorporate a mind/body approach, specifically related to how our nervous system can impact our mood and how we can help facilitate a relaxation response to improve our overall wellbeing.

In the Three Pillars Group, you will explore how sleep, diet, and movement can negatively and positively impact your mood and will leave with some tips, tools, and resources to help give yourself a better foundation to build a well-rounded mental and physical health practice.

Finally, our Evening Mindfulness group will explore mindfulness skills to help promote relaxation while connecting with the world around you.

All of our groups are available for sign up on our website @ https://www.sagewaymentalhealth.com/current-available-group-sessions

Hey everyone,
In order to help our services be affordable and accessible to everyone, we're looking to expand what we're offering.

Beginning in 2026, we are going to begin offering education and therapy groups. We will be launching several education groups at the first of the year and expanding to hopefully include other options. These will be small (12 individuals or less) groups to help you develop skills, supports, and resources you can put in your toolbox to help address mental health challenges and symptoms. Our groups will range from $15-$40 per session depending on the group length and content and will include all needed materials.

We'll also have some Black Friday opportunities coming up for our groups so keep your eyes peeled and on our page for updates.

It's been a fun week in the office. To continue the theme, I made a "therapist approved" Taylor Swift Mix. I've also never spent more time discussing the nuances of lyrics. It's interesting to me that clients who couldn't be more different than each other if they tried can still find similar connections and meaning in song.

On our Taylor Swift Therapy Playlist (chosen only based on title only):

1. Shake It Off
2. Bad Blood
3. This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
4. I Knew You Were Trouble
5. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
6. You Need to Calm Down
7. this is me trying
8. tolerate it
9. closure
10. Would've, Could've, Should've
11. I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
12. Eldest Daughter

Shout out to all the therapist out there who have taken a Swiftie crash course this week. Solidarity!

Hey friends,
It happened again and I am officially on a wait list. More than likely, I will not be able to accept any new clients until January 2026. I really appreciate your support and trust when it comes to being your choice for mental health care.

That being said, Sarah is accepting clients. She has evening openings on Wednesday and Thursday that would be a great option for after-work hours. She is offering $60 intake sessions and $85 individual sessions. She also offers relationship therapy and family sessions (which is something I don't offer, so you should definitely take advantage of this!).

You can go to our website www.sagewaymentalhealth.com/meetsarah today and schedule your intake appointment.

There’s a lot of info coming out making claims about the causal relationship between acetaminophen and autism. We need to talk about data and you need to have tools available to know what you’re looking at and what claims are being made.

Happy Friday, everyone,

My calendar is open again for a short time. I have some limited daytime availability on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before 5pm. Right now I am accepting clients ages 13+ with commercial insurance and private pay. I do not have any sliding scale openings so private pay is $60 for intakes and $120 for individual sessions. I also have openings for relationship therapy starting at $150 for 60 minutes for two people (Cost adjusted for added time or additional participants).

I work with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and psychotic disorders as well as helping individuals dealing with life transitions, interpersonal communication, boundaries, self-image, and compassion fatigue. I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community, first responders, and those in helping professions.

I use a strengths-based approach and incorporate elements of CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Committment Therapy, Logotherapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy while incorporating holistic and integrative approaches such as biofeedback and breathwork.

To schedule an appointment, please go to www.sagewaymentalhealth.com

We need to have a conversation, and it’s a difficult conversation to have.

Your mental health providers are struggling and it’s only going to get worse. Behind the scenes, we’ve been at war with insurance providers and large corporations for decades, trying to make sure that you get access to the care and services that you deserve. That battle is becoming so much harder to fight. In the past few months:

1. I’ve had multiple colleagues report that they are now being reimbursed at a lower rate with no notice. Insurance companies have decreased their rates without renegotiating contracts. You’re responsible for paying the same (if not higher) premiums and deductibles but service providers are receiving significantly less money.

2. More and more electronic medical record companies (Simple Practice, Headway, etc.) are transitioning to AI models. They’re asking for permission to record therapy sessions in order to create “easy” notes. They do so under the guise of making notes easier for providers but many of us have suspicions that they’re using our therapy sessions to create AI healthcare providers. They’ll charge you to talk to an AI therapist, but save money by not having to pay the AI.

3. These same EMR providers are continuing to create significant restrictions and change terms and conditions without notifying the provider until it’s too late. I logged onto Headway (a 3rd Party provider who does my insurance billing and credentialing) only to be told that if I did not use their notes template, that they would not provide me with clawback protection. Clawbacks are when an insurance company can come back, sometimes years after a claim has been submitted, and take back money saying that the therapist was overpaid or did not provide an appropriate service. This puts me in an incredibly frustrating position as I explicitly asked them about both of these issues (using my own EMR and clawbacks) when I signed with their company.

Right now, nothing is changing at Sage Way. I got into this business and started my own practice with the goal of helping individuals and I intend to fight tooth and nail to do so but this might not always been the case. I’ve been considering a few options including going back to a self-pay only practice or looking into a direct patient care model like some medical providers are going to. Unfortunately, this limits access for some clients and that’s the last thing I want to do. I have to balance taking care of my family as well so I see some tough decisions ahead.

What can you do? Please, please reach out to your representatives, local, state, and federal. Ask them to advocate for service providers, especially small service providers who don’t have the bargaining power that large corporations have. And share this message. Please let the world know that we’re fighting a losing battle. Bring it into the light and don’t let these companies get away with it. You deserve to get affordable, quality care for the premiums you pay and providers deserve to be compensated fairly.
