Sincerest apologies if you are waiting for an appointment. Due to large call volume, referrals, and crisis calls we have fallen a bit behind in the normal 24-48 hour response time. If you are in need of services please call 479-264-7307.
Effective Oct 15, 2025 if you request a standing appointment especially for telehealth and fail to keep such with no notification after the 3 time, you will need to call to set up a specific time so others who actively want that appointment time (especially evenings) can have such. If you arrive onsite and don’t receive communication after 10min please notify you are on site. Internet delays sometimes lag on door notifications or none are received during peak afternoon hours as a result of internet service issues.

share that River Valley Counseling & Therapy is solely owned and has been since 2016 by Amanda Jones-Shelton. Please review with the Arkansas Secretary of State for verification. It is and will remain a solo practice. 4792647307 IS and HAS ALWAYS been the direct line to Amanda who for all unknown calls will answer “This is Amanda” for security reasons and patient protection. This direct access is to be in compliance with emergency access required by the state for ALL mental health professionals. No other individual has not ever has had the authority to make executive decisions for River Valley Counseling & Therapy, PA as an entity. Again please refer to the Arkansas Secretary of State. We are very much OPEN! Amanda provides an array of services to her patients approved by insurance and ethics to accommodate the diverse needs of patients.
Any unauthorized access to anything pertaining to River Valley Counseling and Therapy, false information disseminated, or attempts to obtain unauthorized information will not be tolerated and is being closely monitored. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting news!

River Valley Counseling & Therapy will be closed as scheduled on Monday, May 26, 2025, in observance of Memorial Day. As a provider of services to military veterans and their families, it is fitting that we acknowledge the significance of this holiday and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. Today, we encourage everyone to take a moment of silence to honor those who did not return home and express gratitude to those who did. To each and every individual who served, I extend my sincerest appreciation for your service and reaffirm our commitment to prioritizing the mental healthcare needs of our military personnel and veterans.

Our deepest apologies to any who’ve attempted to reach out via messenger. It was discovered last night somehow the auto reply we had set for a year changed and defaulted to an old number. The primary number is 479-264-7307. This has been corrected along with a FAQ section added to our page. We assume an update may have caused that and the lack of adding the new app for businesses. We are constructing a new updated website to add better features and content as well. Thank you all and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience anyone may have experienced

Proud to have had the honor to have officially served 20 years in counseling. This road has been paved with twists, turns, climbs, peaks, and valleys……In short these 20 years have been “a rip-roaring firecracking, roller coaster of a ride -- and we are all the better for having bought a ticket.”

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of you who shared and commented thoughtfully. The source of the rumor and misinformation was identified and clarification provided. Thank you all for your kindness and support. Phyllis McCulley was able to catch the comment that identified the problem and source. We hope the misinformation that we are closed has been corrected. No there hasn’t been a lack of work just a change in methods of service delivery to ensure patient needs are met.
