The Triskelion – Motion, Life Cycles, and the Rhythm of Existence

Long before crosses crowned the hills of Ireland, spirals were carved into stone.

One of the most powerful of them is the Triskelion — sometimes called the triskele — a symbol of three spiralling arms flowing outward from a single centre.

But what does it mean?

Motion

Unlike static symbols, the Triskelion is always moving. Even when carved in stone, it feels alive. The three arms curve forward, never back, suggesting progress, evolution, momentum.

It reflects a deeply Celtic understanding of life: nothing stands still. Seasons turn. Tides shift. People grow.

Life Cycles

The number three carried enormous significance in early Irish belief.
