❄️ Winter Weather Safety Tips ❄️
Cold temperatures can affect people and pets quickly, so a little extra care goes a long way during winter weather.

🧣 Dress for the conditions: Wear several loose layers to trap heat. A hat, gloves, and scarf are essential since body heat is lost fastest through the head and hands. Choose waterproof outer layers and insulated boots to stay dry and warm.

⏰ Limit exposure to the cold: Try to keep outdoor activities short when temperatures or wind chills are very low. Take frequent warm-up breaks indoors and watch for signs of frostbite (numbness, pale skin) or hypothermia (shivering, confusion).

🐾 Protect pets: Pets can get frostbite and hypothermia too. Bring them indoors when temperatures drop, limit their time outside, and check paws for ice, snow, or salt after walks.

Looking out for one another during cold weather helps prevent emergencies. Stay warm, stay safe ✨

❄️ Winter Safety Starts with a Plan ❄️

Cold temperatures and winter weather can create dangerous conditions with little warning. Taking time to plan ahead can help keep your family safe and reduce stress when conditions change.

🏠 Create a Family Winter Safety Plan:
• Decide how you’ll stay in touch if weather disrupts normal routines
• Plan for early dismissals, delayed travel, or canceled activities
• Choose safe meeting places if you can’t get home right away
• Make sure everyone knows emergency phone numbers

🚙 Watch for Black Ice:
Black ice is extremely slippery and often invisible, making it one of winter’s biggest hazards. It commonly forms on bridges, overpasses, shaded roads, and during early morning or evening hours.
• Slow down and allow extra travel time
• Keep a safe distance from other vehicles
• Avoid sudden movements if your vehicle starts to slide

🧤 Be Ready:
• Keep emergency supplies in your vehicle and home
• Check weather forecasts before heading out
• When in doubt, stay home and travel only if necessary

Planning ahead and staying alert can help protect you and your loved ones all winter long. Stay safe! ❄️
