New Course for December
Fall Prevention: Strategies for Physical Therapists and Assistants
$36.00 [4.00 CE Hours]
This comprehensive course is designed to equip physical therapists (PTs) and physical therapist assistants (PTAs) with the knowledge and clinical tools necessary to assess, prevent, and manage fall risk across diverse patient populations. Drawing on current research and clinical guidelines, the course explores the multifactorial nature of falls, including intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors, behavioral influences, and special considerations for high-risk groups such as older adults, individuals with neurological or cognitive impairments, and post-surgical patients. Participants will gain practical skills in the use of standardized fall risk assessment tools, implementation of evidence-based exercise and mobility interventions, environmental modification strategies, and patient-centered education techniques. The course emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, legal and documentation standards, and real-world application through case studies and home safety evaluations. Emphasis will also be placed on promoting behavioral change, reducing fear of falling, and enhancing adherence through motivational interviewing and caregiver involvement. By the end of this course, PTs and PTAs will be able to design and deliver effective, individualized fall prevention strategies that improve safety, independence, and quality of life for their patients.
