Did you know?
Curtis Pharmacy is one of only 5 locations (and the only pharmacy) in Washington County that can provide diabetes self-management education & support (DSMES) classes. After limiting our program to individual sessions during COVID, we are excited to finally start group classes again.
What is DSMES?
DSMES focuses on giving you the tools you need to succeed in managing diabetes. Each group class is personalized to the goals of the group. Classes focus on being active, healthy eating, taking medication, monitoring, reducing future health risks, healthy coping, and problem solving.
Who?
At this time, our pharmacists are set up to provide classes to most Medicare and Medicaid patients that are living with type 2 diabetes.
When and How?
The program starts with a one hour one-on-one session with one of our pharmacists to get to know you and your goals. Our pharmacists use that information to build group classes around supporting you meeting those goals. There are six group sessions (between 1 and 1.5 hours long) that meet every other week. Individual sessions start at the end of March and group classes will be every other Tuesday at 11am, starting on April 7th at our Claysville location.
