The Mission of the Clayton Community Garden is to create a shared vision, to work collaboratively, and to cultivate a place for individuals, families and friends to learn about and experience the rewards of gardening. Our garden will foster community service, educate our youth and build a sense of affiliation and commitment among residents, businesses and local veterans alike. With an emphasis on organic gardening and nutritional education for all ages; we know that community gardening improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

A Special Thank You to Scout Troop 67105, Clayton PD and our Season MVPs Steve Mathis and Linda Labinski!! Got the boxes cleaned out, gave new plants forever homes, and trimmed everything back. Our pollinators have a Winter home there. It was really nice to see Chief Franklin pulling weeds. Thank you to everyone that helped this Season. This is a true Community Garden. Still tomatoes sitting up there if anyone wants them. They’re on the cart.

Here’s the goal! Look at the difference Gibbsboro Community garden made in 10 years! Mostly everything they use is recycled or donated. Even though we have a good group of people working on our garden, we need to get organized and plan out the future. Please, get involved and stay involved so we can evolve to this remarkable garden!!

Sitting on the bench, under the gazebo, taking in this beautiful day. In comes October and there are red tomatoes and peppers that are ready to be picked here. Stop by and take some. Haven’t been here in a few weeks, but it looks amazing! We’ve got a Scout Troop coming over to help clean up and put the garden to rest on October 21st. Keep everyone posted, so we can clean up as a Community and start planting Spring flowers that night. There’s about 6 empty boxes right now, if anyone wants to get Fall into Winter crops going. Thank you to everyone that got involved and stayed involved since our Earth Day event!! This will get better every year!!

Some fresh picked vegetables sitting up at the garden. Feel free to go get them tomorrow. Don’t want them going to waste. Remember, if you’re overwhelmed with your own garden you can bag up your extras and leave them at the garden for someone else to use. Thank you to everyone participating!!

So proud of how far this has come in a little over 3 years! Still lots of work to do. Thank you to everyone that’s participating and keeping up on the garden. Got the rest of the mulch moved today. Check out the difference in the pictures. Supported the tomatoes in the boxes. What needs to be done is all the dead leaves pulled off of the tomatoes. Stake the other tomatoes in boxes. Stakes and string are up there. Stop in on this beautiful day and check out all of the bees, butterflies and hummingbird moths enjoying the plants we gave them. By the way, who got to eat those cantaloupes? They looked good. Thank you all and please stay involved.

Little warm today, but it’s beautiful here. Everything is coming along. Tomatoes are popping every day. Some peppers, eggplant and even the cantaloupe that was planted are looking close to ready. The flowers blooming look amazing. Thank you to everyone participating. Especially, killing the weeds. It does look great and is noticed. Still learning and there’s still plenty of season to go, so stop by. If youre looking how you can help, keep on weeding and put the rest of the mulch in the flower bed to freshen it up. Thank you and enjoy. All suggestions welcome and encouraged.
