Clayton Community Garden

Clayton Community Garden Everyone in Clayton New Jersey is welcome to the Community Garden. This is our first growing season and we look forward to plenty more.

If you’re interested leave a message. Our Mission Statement

The Mission of the Clayton Community Garden is to create a shared vision, to work collaboratively, and to cultivate a place for individuals, families and friends to learn about and experience the rewards of gardening. Our garden will foster community service, educate our youth and build a sense of affiliation and commitment among residents, businesses and local veterans alike. With an emphasis on organic gardening and nutritional education for all ages; we know that community gardening improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

That’s just about a wrap on the season. A special Thank You for the help today and all season from our Community. Really appreciate the Clayton FOP for coming out and cleaning up the garden with us this morning. Still want to get some Spring bulbs planted over the next few weeks. Will keep everyone posted. Again, THANK YOU!

10/25/2024

One last Thank You post and a hope I see you tomorrow post! I’m so thankful that our Community is really stepping up and taking care of our garden! It was a struggle for this to catch on and get to where we are today. With that being said, tomorrow is going to be gorgeous. We’ll be there at 9 AM and stay until we’ve wrapped it up. Please, if you’ve been there 100 times or tomorrow is your first, stop by and help us close down the garden for the season. Help plan on building this bigger and better for next year. If for some reason, you still don’t know where it is, park next to the Clayton Historic Museum at the entrance of Autumn Pasquale Park and walk down the path to the garden. Look forward to seeing our community out there. Thank you again for an excellent season!!

Hopefully, we have a nice gathering Saturday morning at 9 AM. It’s going to be a beautiful Fall morning! Please, come out and help wrap up the garden. If we get enough people, we should have everything removed and put away in less than an hour. This takes all of us and it’s going to get bigger and better. We need each and every one of you to get involved. We’ve seen steady growth over the last couple of years. Let’s keep building together!

Anyone interested in taking some courses? We need more people involved to grow and sustain our community garden.

It’s been a long time since there’s been an update. I’ve been laid up with new hardware in my leg for the last 2 months. I’m so PROUD OF OUR COMMUNITY!! I got out there today and it looks wonderful. There’s still vegetables growing, the mulch looks great in the flower beds and the w**ds that took us over last year are very minimal!! We are truly a COMMUNITY GARDEN! One last push next Saturday at 9 AM. We’re going to have a cleanup up and pull all of those plants out of the boxes. Trim back all the flowers and plant Spring bulbs, so we have beautiful Spring flowers for our Earth Day Event! Thank you to everyone that participated and stayed involved. There’s still a lot of work to do over the Winter as we look to expand and make this better for 2025!!

It’s been absolutely gorgeous! Hope everyone is down there enjoying the garden. Feel free to put the rest of the mulch into the flower beds to really make it pop! Pick any vegetables coming up too. We really need to take the next step down there. It’s been a good season so far! It’s all of ours, Our Community!!

The turnout was dismal, but we got some w**ds pulled, cleaned a few boxes out and thoroughly watered everything. Going to try again next weekend. Feel free to pull w**ds in the flower beds, any time you like. Feel free to move mulch too. Left a better wheelbarrow down there. Help put the Community in the Community Garden.

08/02/2024

One last plead! Please, come out tomorrow morning and help! Looks like about 6-7 people right now. If we can get to 20 we can have this knocked it in less than an hour. Starting at 8 am and we’ll be done when the mulch is all spread. Thank you and look forward to seeing our Community members.

How many people would be available to help w**d and mulch on Saturday morning? It shouldn’t take any longer than 2 hours. Please, respond with, me! That way I’ll know who commits. Feel free to bring your family too, always great to get the kids involved in helping the Community.
