Most leadership development programs will teach you communication, delegation, time management, but almost none of them teach you how to regulate your own nervous system under pressure.

Yet, that skill quietly determines everything else. How you show up in a hard conversation, how you make decisions when you're stretched thin and how your team feels after spending an hour with you.

At Triad Functional Mental Health, Dr. Adamo works with executives and high performers to build exactly this, using a holistic approach that addresses the mind and the body together.

Dehydration doesn’t just affect your body, it can also affect your brain.

Even mild dehydration can impact cognitive function, including attention, memory, processing speed, and mood. When the brain doesn’t have enough fluid, it has to work harder to do the same tasks, which can show up as brain fog, irritability, fatigue, or difficulty concentrating.

At Triad Functional Mental Health, cognitive symptoms such as brain fog, difficulty focusing, or mental fatigue are evaluated within a whole-person framework.

Foundational factors like hydration are considered alongside mental health history, lifestyle, and physiological contributors, rather than in isolation.

Are you experiencing brain fog, fatigue, or focus struggles? Triad can help. Schedule your session today.

Chronic pain isn’t just a physical experience, it impacts mood, sleep, focus, and the way we relate to our bodies and our world. Persistent pain can heighten stress responses, contribute to anxiety or depression, and make everyday life feel overwhelming.

A functional health approach addresses the whole person: body, mind, and nervous system, rather than focusing solely on symptoms. This integrative perspective looks at the underlying contributors to pain and supports strategies that improve resilience and daily functioning.

Functional strategies can include:
-Cognitive-behavioral tools to manage thought patterns around pain
-Nervous system regulation to reduce hyperarousal and tension
-Mindfulness and stress reduction practices to support mental and physical balance
-Trauma-informed support to address past experiences that influence pain perception

These approaches help clients:
-Build effective coping skills
-Reduce emotional and physical burden
-Regain a sense of agency and control
-Improve quality of life and daily functioning

By addressing both the mind and body, a functional health approach can restore perspective, resilience, and the capacity to engage fully in life.

If chronic pain is affecting your daily life, schedule a session with Triad Functional Mental Health. Our integrative, mind-body approach helps you address the root contributors to pain, build resilience, and regain control over your well-being.

Trauma-informed care matters because the way we experience safety, choice, and understanding directly impacts healing. When therapy is approached without awareness of trauma, clients can feel misunderstood, unsafe, or re-traumatized, slowing progress and eroding trust.

A trauma-informed therapist asks “What happened to you?” instead of “What’s wrong with you?”

They prioritize consent, predictability, collaboration, and choice, because healing doesn’t happen in environments that feel rushed, shaming, or unsafe.

For clients, this means fewer ruptures, less re-traumatization, and more trust in the therapeutic relationship. For therapists, it means working more ethically, sustainably, and effectively.

If you want therapy that prioritizes safety, collaboration, and lasting change, schedule a session with Triad Functional Mental Health today. Start building a healing experience that meets you where you are—mind, body, and nervous system.

Perfectionism doesn’t always look like excellence.

For many professionals, it shows up as overworking, overthinking, and never feeling “done.” It can drive late nights, skipped breaks, and the constant push to outperform, not just others, but yourself.

It shows up in boardrooms, meetings, and client calls, in high-stakes projects and everyday deadlines. The pressure to get it right can quietly cost your focus, your health, and your joy.

Intentional rest, self-compassion, and steady progress are markers of high-functioning resilience. They are the habits that allow professionals to sustain focus, creativity, and leadership over the long term, even under pressure.

If perfectionism is impacting your well-being, it’s time to create a healthier approach. Schedule a session with Triad Functional Mental Health and start building strategies that support both your career and your mental health.

When it comes to exercise, consistency beats intensity every time. Short, regular movement strengthens your body, supports nervous system regulation, and builds resilience more effectively than sporadic, intense workouts. Overdoing it in one session can spike stress hormones, increase fatigue, and even set back progress.

Small, steady habits like walking, stretching, gentle strength work compound over time, creating real, sustainable benefits for both your body and mind. At Triad, we focus on practical, body-informed strategies that help you build capacity, not just temporary results. Schedule a consultation and learn more at triadstl.com.

When you skip your first meal, blood sugar drops and cortisol (the stress hormone) rises, putting your nervous system on high alert. This can make it harder to focus, regulate emotions, and respond calmly to challenges throughout the day. Over time, skipping breakfast can contribute to fatigue, irritability, and a lower overall capacity to handle stress.

Supporting your nervous system with a balanced morning meal helps stabilize energy, improve focus, and build resilience to daily stressors.

We focus on practical strategies that strengthen your nervous system and expand your capacity for life. Interested in learning more? Schedule a consultation at triadstl.com.

Positive thinking isn’t always accessible when your nervous system is overwhelmed. When stress is high, the body needs safety before the mind can shift perspective. Body-based practices like grounding, breathwork, gentle movement, and sensory regulation help calm the nervous system so clarity and resilience can follow naturally.

Here are a few to start with:

Orient: Gently look around the room and name 3 things you can see that feel neutral or pleasant.

Ground: Press your feet into the floor or your back into the chair and notice the support beneath you.

Breathe low + slow (square breathing): Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds, pause before your next breath—repeat 3 times.

At Triad, we use nervous system–informed approaches that support real regulation, not forced positivity. If you’re ready for tools that work with your body instead of against it, schedule a consultation and learn more at triadstl.com.
