Central Washington Equine Therapy LLC An alternative approach to healing and injury prevention in equine athletes, roughstock, & livestock.

Central Washington Equine Therapy LLC offers an alternative holistic approach to wellness, healing, and injury prevention in equine athletes, roughstock, livestock, and their owners. I advocate for non-invasive, drug-free, and full-body healing through Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy among the agricultural community. Each therapeutic session is designed by your animal to meet their needs, improve their wellbeing, and enhance their performance. Healing technology is brought to you with your animal in mind! I currently offer PEMF sessions in Kittitas County, Skagit County, and surrounding areas in Washington State.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Equestrians Institute Horse Trials jump crew at the Washington State Horse Park this past weekend! I witnessed extraordinary horsemanship from all classes, not a single person exitted the arena without acknowledging their horse tried it's hardest no matter how many faults accrued through the wind and rain. I want to thank everyone I met along the way for welcoming me with warm arms. Truly an incredible experience!

Here at CWET, we whole heartedly believe every approach to care, maintenance, and rehab should be modified to meet the individual needs of each animal 💕

I have seen horses thrive barefoot.

I have seen horses that need a supportive boots/shoeing package to maintain quality of life.

I have seen horses thrive on a grass-free track system.

Equally, I have seen horses flourish when taking them off the track system and into a more 'traditional' management setting which includes grass.

I have seen horses unwind when they are given the opportunity to hang out with conspecifics.

I have seen horses that are so poorly socialised that they need a rehab plan and careful management to help them to feel safe and develop positive associations in a herd-based environment.

I have seen horses that visibly sigh with relief when their exercise schedule is reduced.

I have seen horses breakdown at the reduction of their workload intensity or routine.

I have seen horses graciously carry their terrfied human around a trail ride.

I have seen horses come completely undone at the slightest hint of tension from their rider.

With all the horses I have had the privilege to meet, I have NEVER seen a horse do well out of a one-size-fits-all approach.

Whilst gold standard for horses might look like one collection of traits or variables, gold standard for your horse might not be that for your horse at that particular moment - or ever.

Recognise your horse is an individual, with needs that are founded upon their in-utero, early life and day to day experience.

And surround yourself with professionals that do the same too ❤️

Yesterday I spent the afternoon at Flying R Ranch working on their ranch horses and very well mannered young stud, Desires Little Cat! Then finished off the evening by welcoming a new filly to the herd, FR Drift N Tipsy.

The Williams have been an absolute blast to work with the last 3+ years and I am honored to own horses from such a respectable program. P.S. they've still got a few weanlings for sale 😉 Go check 'em out!

As an equine bodyworker, I cannot stress this enough!

I believe the key to a successful rehabilitation is treating the body as a whole to alleviate inflammation and compensatory pain, along with re-training the animals mind and body to move correctly.

Just like us, working horses dealing with chronic inflammation and pain will adjust their self carriage to allow for more comfortable movement. The nervous system is conditioned to remember the chronic pain response it has endured and we must be aware that re-training the mind and muscle memory is essential during and after the rehabilitation process!

Re-educating the nervous system is an important step in a thorough rehabilitation programme. Usually, it requires both a passive (bodywork and static exercises) and active (movement with awareness) approach. Here are some rules to keep in mind when talking to the nervous system:
1. Stay below the brace. Positive changes in the nervous system happen when the horse is relaxed and comfortable.
2. Keep the number of reps low. We are not building muscle or strengthening tendons. Too many repetitions can be counterproductive.
3. Go slow. When moving with awareness, fully experiencing and feeling a certain movement is the key to positive change. By going slow we are giving the nervous system time to process and adapt.
