The 4-H Poultry Project Experience gives youth the opportunity to raise a poultry project from just 2 days old through exhibiting at Achievement Days. Participants will receive five purebred chicks that meet South Dakota 4-H Poultry standards, along with the essential supplies needed to get started. This program is a fun, hands-on way for youth to build their poultry knowledge and grow their own flocks.

We’re excited to launch 4-H Flavorful, a free at-home cooking program that helps youth build confidence in the kitchen while preparing healthy meals with their families. The Food, Fun, 4-H from last year has been revamped and rebranded into 4-H Flavorful. Hopefully we retained all the parts of the former program that you enjoyed. If you are new to the program, make this program work for you and your family. Do one lesson or do all the lessons. It is here for you to bring your family together, learn, and make mealtime and meal prep a special family time. Have fun! Use it in a way that suits your family!
December’s theme is VEGETABLES—why we need them, how they keep us healthy, and fun ways to cook them! Youth will get:
Easy, kid-friendly veggie recipes
Nutrition tips and portion guidance
Shopping lists & meal builders
Family conversation starter
Hands-on cooking skills

Once you have registered, we will prepare your binder with the first month’s lesson. Each month’s lessons will be available on the SDSU Extension website. Once you have the binder, you have the option of printing your lessons from the website at home or picking the lessons up at the office.
Participants have 20 days to complete their lesson and make a taste test reflection to be eligible for a free cooking related gift. The taste test reflection takes less than 5 minutes. It can be accessed via a QR code or the link within the lesson. Don’t forget to take pictures!! 😊 Contact us if you need more than 20 days.
