Hello Embody movers!
I wanted to highlight a particular workout I’ve been loving lately, “Cardio Barre 2”. I filmed this one some time ago, shortly after attending a workshop on fascia. Since then, I’m been incorporating fascia friendly exercise into almost all our Embody workouts (in particular our Barre Stretch, Yogalates, and our Mobility focused classes).
While this class is definitely designed to get your heart pumping and work up a sweat, it also features a exercises for the fascia surrounding your shoulders, hips, and torso.
Why Cardio Barre? Unlike traditional cardio classes that don’t offer up any support, cardio barre features exercises that allow you to hold onto your barre (chair, counter, back of couch). I find that offering a bit of support goes a LONG way in maintaining good form, and alignment, and core stability.
I often see cardio classes where the moves are SO fast and overly complex in their choreography. Cardio Barre is designed to be fun, groovy, BUT easy to follow in good form. I love this class in particular as it features one of my favorite music styles (especially for cardio), Latin!
This class is is 26 minutes, and features a mix of salsa, flamenco, and cumbia music. Class format is a standing warm up, cardio exercises holding onto a chair (you can always challenge your balance and go without!) and a cool down stretch down on the mat. Want to add some spice to this class? Try adding ankle weights and/or light hand weights (I would advise no heavier than 2 pounds). This will DEFINITELY add to the cardio/sweat factor.
I’d love for you to check it out! Not yet an Embody member? Head to our site using the link and try out the entire video library 7 days free. With 150+ workouts, there’s something for everyone at Embody.
