🚨 OR02 Update: What DMEs Need to Know in 2025 🚨

Medicare is tightening the rules around Off-the-Shelf Custom-Fitted Orthopedic Orthosis — and the changes matter.

Here’s what’s new:
✔️ April 2025 PDAC coding updates (codes removed, added, and revised)
✔️ OR02 items cannot be shipped directly to patients
✔️ Fittings must be performed by a Licensed / Certified Orthotist or Orthotic Fitter
✔️ Documentation must clearly prove who performed the Fitting
✔️ CMS is actively auditing OR02 claims and supplier credentials

OR02 is not the same as off-the-shelf (OR03).
If a brace is trimmed, molded, or modified for a specific patient, Medicare expects expert involvement — and proof.
