Next month is month!
Yet, oral cancer screening is a year round priority for us at the office:
How aware are you of oral cancer?
Is it supposed to hurt? Can you see it? And how do you recognize it? 🔬🎗
These are very common questions from patients.
Early detection of an asymptomatic lesion and biopsy could reduce morbidity and mortality, by increasing the number of stage 1 disease detected. And that is really the key! 🏆
Patients with advanced stages often do not benefit from early detection because oral lesions are rarely limited to the oral cavity.
At an early stage, treatment of oral lesions may vary depending on the extent of these, and could be limiting for some patients when significant amount of tissue has to be removed; for some patients, it may affect their speech or their ability to swallow.
A significant percentage of oral and oropharyngeal cancers have precursor
Oral lesions. When left undiagnosed, most cases are actually detected during late stages of the disease when it has a high mortality rate.
Ask us about oral cancer screening during your next oral examination.
