Shore Prāṇa Yoga, LLC

Shore Prāṇa Yoga, LLC Shore Prāṇa Yoga’s mission is to take that feeling of connectedness and bliss we find when our feet are in the sand and cultivate it on the yoga mat.

Never do I sense Prāṇa stronger than when I am standing at the water’s edge. Prāṇa is the universal life force that connects all of nature’s beings and is manifested with each physical breath we take. Shore Prāṇa Yoga’s mission is to take that feeling of serenity, connectedness, and bliss we find when our feet are in the sand and cultivate it on the yoga mat and in our daily lives. Ashley Feyedelem came to yoga searching for a tool to manage the stress that comes with being a high school teacher, but she found so much more. Through her yoga practice she found a spiritual path that had led her to listen to her inner teacher and truly appreciate a holistic approach to wellness. As a recent graduate from Ally Ford Yoga’s 200-Hour Teacher Training in September 2014, she is eager and humbled to help others start their journey. Ashley was blessed to start a dedicated yoga practice at White Orchid Yoga in 2013 and quickly became a student of Ashtanga Yoga. She has practiced under many dedicated Ashtangis who have encouraged and supported her on her journey: Calley Masson, Jessica Needham, Tanya Green, and many other inspiring teachers at White Orchid. Taking advantage of local workshops, she continually explores the lifetime lessons yoga offers. From handstands to mantras to meditation, she has studied with esteemed teachers, including Jessica Lynne and David Kyle. With her 200YRT Yoga Alliance certification, she is excited to start sharing these lessons. As a nature and animal lover, Ashley’s true hope is to foster an attitude of gratitude and compassion in herself and her students through yoga. By nurturing and healing ourselves, we ultimately do the same for others and our planet, earnestly making the world a better place. We are all connected. Like a walk on the beach or a deep breath in the woods, yoga is a way to remember that.

"Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift."

We are celebrating with none other than Mary Oliver's Dog Songs, and our furry friends. Thanks to Garcia Street Books for this lovey photo.

On Meditating, Sort Of, by Mary Oliver

Meditation, so I’ve heard, is best accomplished
if you entertain a certain strict posture.
Frankly, I prefer just to lounge under a tree.
So why should I think I could ever be successful?

Some days I fall asleep, or land in that
even better place — half asleep — where the world, spring, summer, autumn, winter —
flies through my mind in its hardy ascent and its uncompromising descent.

So I just lie like that, while distance and time
reveal their true attitudes: they never
heard of me, and never will, or ever need to.

Of course I wake up finally
thinking, how wonderful to be who I am,
made out of earth and water,
my own thoughts, my own fingerprints —
all that glorious, temporary stuff.

Art via• • “When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree.

The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying ‘You are too this, or I’m too this.’ That judgment mind comes in. And so I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are.” - Ram Dass
