John and Randall Clark, have been educating professionals through seminars, scientific publications, and speaking events for years. The therapy methods have been so successful that there is a shortage of highly trained therapists to treat patients suffering from pain syndromes. CNS responds to this need by providing a comprehensive program that allows students to work while preparing for their new career through a combination of lecture, hands-on practice, clinical practice, and community outreach. The faculty members of CNS bring their expertise in NST and proven instruction methods together to provide a one-of-a-kind educational experience.

Structure Is a System — Not a Collection of Parts

In Neuro 1, students learn to see the body the way the nervous system does:
as an integrated structural system. When there is a strain or interruption on one part of the system, it can cause a strain on other parts of the system.

This course builds a deep understanding of:
• Cranial bone relationships and how they reflect neurological priorities
• Spinal orientation, with a strong emphasis on upper cervical mechanics
• How skeletal positioning influences neurological tone and adaptation

Neuro 1 teaches students how to recognize these relationships, understand their meaning, and stop chasing symptoms one area at a time.

You Won’t Learn That at Massage School

Most people think scoliosis is just a side-to-side curve.
That’s already where the misunderstanding starts.

In a scoliotic spinal pattern, curvature and rotation are inseparable.
As the spine laterally deviates, the vertebrae rotate, creating rib prominence, asymmetrical tone, altered breathing mechanics, and compensation patterns throughout the body.

That rotation changes:

How force is distributed through the spine

How muscles adapt neurologically and structurally

How pain shows up far away from the visible curve

Neurosomatic Therapy teaches students to recognize 3-dimensional spinal behavior, understand how a patient's structure and nervous system reinforce these patterns, and assess why the body is holding on — not just where it feels tight.

That level of thinking is the foundation of NST and one more way the Center for Neurosomatic Studies sets itself apart from massage school.

What Students Learn at CNS

Rather than memorizing routines, students are trained to:

• Think clinically and anatomically
• Assess posture, movement, and neurological input
• Understand why pain and dysfunction occur
• Communicate professionally with clients and healthcare providers

Graduates earn a Diploma, State Licensing Eligibility, & Somatic Therapist or Neurosomatic Specialist certificate, depending on the program completed.

🧠 Neuro 1 : The Atlas–Axis Relationship Changes Everything

The relationship between the atlas (C1) and axis (C2) isn’t just a neck issue.
It’s a neurological organizing point for the entire body.

In Neuro 1, students learn:
• How atlas–axis orientation influences global posture
• Why small upper cervical distortions create full-body compensation patterns
• How neurological tone is reflected through cranial and spinal positioning
• Why symptoms often appear far from their true source

When the nervous system prioritizes protection, the atlas–axis relationship adapts — and the rest of the body follows.

Neuro 1 teaches students how to observe, understand, and interpret these patterns before ever attempting correction.

If you want to understand structure from the top down — not chase pain from the outside in — this is where that thinking begins.

Most disease has a structural component...

If you can correct the structure, you can often reduce — or eliminate — the dis-ease.

That idea changes how you approach pain, dysfunction, and long-term health.

At the Center for Neurosomatic Studies, students learn to assess posture, movement, and neurological input to understand why the body compensates the way it does.

Because structure isn’t random.
It’s a reflection of how the nervous system has adapted over time.

If you’re interested in anatomy, biomechanics, and solving problems at the root — not just chasing symptoms — this isn’t your traditional massage education.

It’s Neurosomatic Therapy.

🧠 Neuro 1 ALP: The Foundation of Neurosomatic Thinking

Neuro 1 introduces students to the neurological framework that drives posture, pain, and compensation. This course isn’t about techniques — it’s about understanding the system behind the symptoms.

In Neuro 1, students explore:
• The organization and function of the central and peripheral nervous systems
• How neurological input influences muscle tone, posture, and movement
• The relationship between sensory input, motor output, and compensation patterns
• Foundational neuroanatomy relevant to structural imbalance and pain
• Why symptoms appear far from their neurological origin
• How stress, trauma, and adaptation shape the body over time
• The beginnings of clinical observation and assessment-based thinking

Neuro 1 lays the groundwork for all advanced Neurosomatic Therapy education — giving students a lens they’ll use throughout the ALP series and beyond.

If you’re ready to move past memorization and start understanding why the body does what it does, this is where that shift begins.
