Florida Physio is a Physical therapy and Golf performance center located in the Tampa Bay Area. We offer physical therapy services to active adults, athletes, golfers, and tennis players who don’t mind putting in the work it takes to become a forever athlete. We offer golf performance services to golfers looking to increase strength, improve flexibility, and hit the ball further using golf specific exercise and drills with a launch monitor and high speed camera analysis. Watch our video highlighting parts of our “Golf Physical.”
In late 2016, my wife (a physical therapist with the Women’s Tennis Association) and I traveled to Europe. We ventured part of trip throughout Germany with a couple Aussies that we had met at dinner. We were from Florida and the world wide term for “physical therapist” is “physio.” We were called the “Physios from Florida”...hence “Florida Physio.”
By March 2017, Florida Physio was founded with much of our focus being concierge care and offering physical therapy services to individuals suffering from persistent pain as well as those desiring to improve their life through wellness. Florida Physio was mobile in that it traveled to client’s homes, businesses, gyms, and even a few substance abuse treatment facilities.
In June of 2019, we opened our first brick and mortar location in Clearwater, Florida. Where our primary clientele has been helping golfers. The founder, Dr. Leighton Peavler has played golf since his youth. His Dad was a golf professional who played mini-tours in Florida, Nevada, and the Midwest. Leighton went on to play college golf for the Salukis at Southern Illinois University while having a successful amateur career winning events in 4 individual stroke play events in the summer of 2009 in Illinois as well qualifying for the FSGA Mid Amateur in 2019.
We continue to have a large population of amateur and professional golfers. Dr. Leighton has consulted with Dustin Johnson’s medical team prior to the 2019 president cup. He has also helped teach Golf Professionals, Fitness Trainers, and other Physical Therapist learn about the industry through the Titleist Performance Institute.
Our goal is to help golfers get out of pain, increase their strength, improve their flexibility, and play better golf.
